I got a call last night from a company called International Gifting Company. They are located close to the Airport. They said I filled out a ballot sometime last year, and that I had to show up today at 6:45 to win one of three prizes.

The prizes include $20,000, a car or a trip. This seems fishy to me as I googled "International Gifting Company" and nothing came up. I don't remember filling out a ballot within the past year.

Has anyone had a similar experience? I'm worried that if I show up today, they will force me to purchase a time-share.

I'm worried, because the location is shady, and it's right next to a strip club!?!?!?!?!

If it was legit, wouldn't it be somewhere "nicer".

If its anything legitimate, you wouldn't have to SHOW UP BY SAID TIME, and you'd have remembered what ballot you filled out. In fact, they should have told you what you filled out and when.

If it sounds too good to be true, IT IS.

I wouldn't waste your time ... sounds sketch.

it looks like a multi-level marketing program....

Reverse Funnel System

I would assume you put $5000 in the pot, and the more people you get to give $5000 to the pot, you get more and more money back.... and the cycle should then never end, as long as your leg doesn't dry up....

there are huge number of "gifting" websites on google....

just just search Reverse Funnel System anfd you'll see all sorts of examples.

Ok... so I went to this place last night - and WHAT A SCAM!!!

First off, there were 6 couples there. We all arrived at the same time. They lead us into this room which had several tables. Each couple was sitted at a different table. Within a couple of minutes, a "sales rep" (Chris) came to our table and introduced himself. He was professional, and funny. He asked us what we were promised - and we informed him that we were told we'd get a car, cash or a vacation. He guaranteed that at the end of the "seminar", we would get what we were promised - one of three prizes. He also guaranteed that we didn't have to purchase anything...we would get our prizes regardless.

After 20 minutes of mindless chatter, all the couples were then lead to a "theatre". We had a 20 minute presentation that confused us all. The presenter than said, "This is not a deal that will be around tomorrow. If you want to sign up today, than you can take part in this. If you want to "think about it", then you should leave now". I was CLOSE to leaving, but I wanted my "prize".

Then, we had to watch a boring video about all the wonderful places you could visit. Unfortunately, the video was about 20 years old. If that weren't enough, all the couples were then separated and brought to individual tables. Chris sat down with me, and started to ask me questions pretaining to how much I wanted to travel within the next five years. I guess this is a MAJOR key question in their selling strategy.

Unfortunately, I don't plan on travelling anywhere fancy within the next five years. I told him I don't plan on travelling. He didn't believe it. He kept hasseling me with the same question. I looked at my cell phone (for the time) and was SHOCKED to see that TWO hours had passed. I politely informed him that I hadn't planned on being there this long.

Chris turned sour - and he knew I wasn't going to buy any vacation package - and said, "I'll bring you to your prize". He lead me to another room, where I had to "scratch" to see what my prize was, and I won a three day vacation at a resort in Florida. However, they quickly informed me that I would have to pay a fee once I got to the hotel. Technically, I hadn't "won" anything!

When I went home and viewed the voucher, it expires in a month, and you have to pay $330 to book the vacation.
