I also live on irving terrace and since garbage day is tomorrow, wednesday, i need my bin for tomorrow to start the new garbage plan. As i have not yet received mine i called waste management to inquire. They had a bit of trouble trying to wrap themselves around the idea that i needed it starting wednesday as i will no longer have weekly garbage pickup after tomorrow.

To make a really long stort short, "they" are checking to see if our street was missed and will be calling me to let me know what is going on. If this in case does actualy happen I will post their response.

is there any sort of tax deduction for buying these new bags that we will now require?

Guess you'll just have to keep any organic waste seperate in some other container until you get your bin and transfer it to the bin when you do get it. Maybe you could just get some of the small bags and use a small pail or something? Have fun.

The new green bin starts NEXT week. So you don't need to bother, I am surprised waste management did not tell you that when you called!

I think you misintrepreted her post. After tomorrows garbage pick up, you need the green bin to put your food in for next weeks pick up. Althought the bin will be picked up next week, it is needed for tomorrow to start the program for the next week.

If they start picking up the green bins next week then shouldnt we all have the bins a week in advance to have something for them to pick up? Is next week a normal garbage day or the new garbage day? If we cant put garbage out then I think we kinda need the bins now.

I didn't read anything that stated you have to buy the certified bags. You can dump the waste right into the green bin if you want.

There was a map in the paper. HV south of Derry and east of Thompson has Green Bin and recycle next monday. No garbage, it is the following week. Make sure you check for yourself.

Here is a link to their web page. Enter your address to see what day your new pick up is on.

Thanks for looking into this on behalf of all of us, Jane Doe! I would be interested to hear when exactly we will get our green bins too as I am also concerned about where to put my kitchen scraps after our garbage pick up tomorrow! I don't have any other closed container I could use and I honestly am not just going to leave things out in an open container!

Thanks for the link Matt, I had no idea that they changed the pick up days.
