I thought it was bought by some religious institution. Special Commerial doesnt jive with that description. Colin b. anyone?

Just called the Town Hall and they said that they have received an application for re-zoning for a daycare facility. All residents in the 200m circle vicinity will be notified...

Hi Reena

Thanks for the information and questions.

Spoke with Bronwyn Parker(905-878-7252 x 2313) the Planner handling the file.

The application is for a day care centre using the existing house at 995 Fourth Line. Staff just received the application last week and will be preparing for an initial public meeting in a few months.

I will let everyone on the villager know when it will be scheduled and every resident within 120 metres (400 feet) of the property lines of the application will recieve a letter from the Town informing them of the meeting and details of the application.

No information yet on how many day care spaces etc. but the applicant is filing a traffic impact report and other information with the Town.

It is a prime location so I don't think they would consider it for extra parking. I think daycare is the best fit for that place, I hope it gets approved...

Hi folks... follow-up question for Colin - any details on whether this is for a 'Religious' Day Care facility??
FYI to other readers, the sign is just a notice about the zoning change, but the current phase of development is really only the town taking land from owners to build a storm runoff channel, prior to development.

The good news is that the developers are listed as the Lizzi family, owners of LaRose bakery in town and long time Milton residents. If it is a small day care facility that bakes fresh bread, I'll be ecstatic :). I am not sure if the Lizzi's own the land, or are acting as developers for the former (?) owners, members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community.

Also, the notice says that only those living within 120m, not 200 as stated above, will be notified of the upcoming meetingsw and changes. I'm just outside of this distance, and I'd like to be a part of things - anyone else curious as well?

I'm curius too....we're at 4th Line & Louis St. Laurent basically (on Marshall, but right near that corner - one house over).

I just wouldn't want it to impact traffic, and I think there would have to be no street parking, because already going up 4th, you're always waiting as only 1 car can sometimes go by when cars are parked. But, what does this mean for the people who already live on the busy 4th Line? Will the not be able to park or get out of their driveways because everyone is dropping or picking their kids up from daycare?

I guess we'll just see what happens.

You're absolutely right. It's already dangerous turning out onto 4th line from Marshall, with the cars parked on the street and the people parking on the boulevard of their driveways blocking the sidewalk and a foot of street, severely blocking our view turning out. I'm not looking forward to the morning I head to work and that intersection is closed due to a bad accident... Won't somebody please think of the children!!!

The last thing we need are even more parked cars people are weaving around doing 70+ km/h. I'm guessing they'll keep the U-shaped driveway and parking for 6-8, but who knows.. it's not like any development in town has made much sense recently...
We moved here from Aurora last year, a place where they built the roads, infrastructure, and shops BEFORE people moved there... Where's our mall on James Snow?? That's another topic entirely... hehe I'll go search for that thread now.

I don't like the idea of changing the zoning bylaw for this site regardless of what it may become. Religious site/day care/other.

When 4th line was closed on the north side, among the reasons that were stated it was closed was for were "The road was just never meant to hold a lot of traffic"

- That was from Brian Penman. Not sure I still have a copy of the email. Sorry.

Regardless - How can they now ok develpoment for libraries and other types of use on this tiny road on the south side? It makes no sense what so ever.

You already have to cross the yellow line on the road when 1 car is parked on the street. Now you want to fill it up with public buildings that will attract more traffic?

How can you justify that to the people on the south side of 4th line?

There is sooooo much empty space in milton for non residential development. Use it. and leave the residential areas residential.

I called the town and they said that the land is owned and being developed by the Lizzi family. There is going to be a Montessori school for 80 kids and staff of 20. There is no religious site going up there.

I spoke to Mr. Lizzi today who confirmed your information. He is planning for the parking to be along the north side of the property next to the library site and the day care will be in the existing house only.

In regards to the initial public meeting even though the notices are mailed to property owners in a 120 metre radius from the application property lines, anyone can speak to the application at the first meeting which should be in the next few months without having to register with the town clerk ahead of the meeting. When the Chair asks for anyone to speak to the application after staff and the applicant or their agent has spoken, just raise you hand and the chair will recognize you and you walk up to the podium and state your name and concerns.

If you have concerns regarding the parking check out the current Milton Library site on Pearl street it opened in 1974 and now serves 73,000 people with only 40 parking spaces. It also is on a quiet residential street and as far as I know there has never been any complaints about the traffic or parking on Pearl, Pine or Bruce streets which are next to the library. (I also represent the area in Ward 2)

The library board is planning for a new central library together with an arts and theatre centre at the current Milton Hydro site at the south-east corner of Main and Thompson Road in 2011-12 depending on funding etc.

The Board is introducing its master plan this Monday June 23rd at Milton Council and copies will be available to view at the library and on their web site along with photos of the new library site.

The library board is also planning on a similar style branch library to serve the Harrison (escarpment area) and Scott (north of Derry west of Bronte St) neighbourhoods in the near future as well.

Milton Council should be dealing with the terms of reference for the Phase 3 Boyne Survey on Monday Jully 21st. This is the area south of Louis St. Laurent Blvd. to Britannia Road from James Snow Parkway west to Tremaine Road for an estimated 13,000 homes and 40,000 people starting construction some time in 2011-2012.

When this item was proposed during the Town Capital Budget discussions I introduced a motion to defer considertion of the Boyne survey until the other areas are completed and the hospital, schools and roads are in place to serve the current population.

It lost in a close 8 to 2 vote.

Well that is really exciting! It would be great to have a community theatre in town.
