It looks like they are using the 2 tier pricing 5 and 5.4 cents. I will contact the developer and see if he can fix it.

Just looked at the new Direct Energy site update and if my math is correct for Friday 11 and Saturday 12th the pricing is still based on $0.05 cents a kilowatt.

Post some pics later

Friday April 11 Total costs $0.87, KWH 17.40....math... $0.87/17.40=$0.05
Saturday April 12 Total costs $1.44, KWH 28.80....math... $1.44/28.80=$0.05

Agreed, I just looked at mine and the math is all wrong! I wonder if this is tied into their billing system as I would get a huge credit!
This works out to .05 cents instead of 0.03 cents.

Even worse...itis now "2.7 cents per kWh " as per May 1st 2008.

I called the Direct Energy Help line and they can't do anything with this. They said it is Bell or U of W that does the caluclations...call Direct Energy if you have hardware technical issues.

That is that, so I didn't call anyone else.

Tim

PS, not that I or anyone else cares, but thats alot of KWH's you are using for the May 11th. Not plugging myself or anything, but May 11 for me was 25.10kwh $1.26, Sunday before was 32.60kwh $1.63 I checked back in FEB JAN and my average is around 35kwh. Only thing that I am doing different now is using a outdoor hanger for drying clothes.

Hi Tim, i appreciate your feedback. i always thought my usage for the house was very high. I have 3 kids Ages 5, 4 and 1 as of today. Sunday is a huge laundry day. As of 2 years ago I bought the Whirlpool Duet that was supposed to be pretty energy efficient but I do not know anymore.
This weekend I will take a look in my dryer vent and make sure it is clear from what I can see.

A friend of mine had the exact same house and we both only had 2 kids and I was still way higher then him. I do have the furnace fan on 24/7 and my hepa filter is on 24/7 too. That will add some overhead but it still seems high. That is why I wanted to get that clip to go on the meter and turn things on and off and get a real time usage reading. I have something you can plug into the wall then plug your device in it to get a reading, but it is just not practical!

Matt

Same here. Family of 5.

During the winter, it is the same with us. One or the other Saturday / Sunday is washing for us. We purchase LG front loaders 2.5-3years ago (Both electric). I try to have the vent cleaned a couple times a year.

For the Winter I had the furnace fan 24/7 to cut down on condensation and to keep the heat even. Don't have a hepa filter, but plan to purchase a HRV this or next year. While the furnace has been on in the winter season, the electric filter and ultraviolet filters have been on. I also have a air filter on the 2nd floor 24/7 all winter and now only comes on when we are home in the evening/weekends.

I'll have to compile some results for you.

PS: I BBQ throughout the year which should cut down on electricity costs :D

Tim

I just checked the outside of my dryer vent and pulled out a fist full of lint after picking at it for a few minutes. It was packed in tight. I am hopeful my dryer will use less energy now.

Ya. I had a thread on removing lint from dryer vent. We do most of the laundry on weekends and it dropped 10-15 kWh per day on the Saturday & Sunday.

i remember reading it somewhere, must have been you. I will try to remember to do it when I put up the Christmas lights then when I take them down. the ladder is allready out and will only take a minute or two.

Is anyone else having problems with their thermostat?

I dug out my old one and was going to swap it back last night then I read the manual for the new one. It can be calibrated. I had to adjust my thermostat by 3 degrees Celcius. My house said it was 23 when it was really 26 according to my other thermostat and another digital temperature gage I have... I hope it will finally cool down in there now!

We haven't regretted telling them to come and remove their stuff almost a year ago...although they refused to replace our dimmer switch in the living room, so we lost that in the kerfuffle.

Hey finally looks like they are using the system.

Right now the mode is demand response.

From 2pm to 6pm. You might notice the LED's on your light switches are flashing as well.

Hmmm, weird.

My 5 oclock period switched the thermostat to a lower setting than the demand response...wonder if that was supposed to happen??

Hi crash,

My husband was called today and will be participating and I believe you get $100.00. It's legitimate.
