Colin are you saying that access to the 401 from Tremaine will probably not happen until 2017? Geez that seems like an awfully long time. Can you advise why it was pushed back so far?

Hi Colin,

Thanks for that information. It's great to see a City Councillor on this forum keeping track of realistic issues.

The information about the 401/ Tremaine exit was given to me by the Mattamy Sales office. They did not say a date, but they gave the impression that it was going to be happening soon.

Thanks again.

Hi dijuy

Who did you speak to at the Town?

Please pm. me as the Region who is in charge of Tremaine Road just put the proposed #401 interchange in its 2017 capital budget (check halton.ca under road projects) and just had the Enivronmental Assessment report approved.

The section they may be refering to, is from Derry Road to the new Main St. W. traffic circle which is budgeted for 2011 and the Main to Steeles Ave. section with a re-aligned intersection at Steeles about 300 metres east of the current location in 2012.

The cost of the Steeles Ave. to Campbellville Side Road section which includes a railway underpass, new bridge over the 16 mile creek and a full interchange similar to Mavis & #401 is now estimated at $90 million + hopefully with the new Federal-Provincial infrastructure project the Region could be eligible for funding for an earlier construction date.

Currently the intersection of Bronte and Steeles is being widened for traffic lights which should be operational this fall, and the purchase of road section for James Snow Parkway south of Louis St. Laurent Blvd to Britannia road has closed so the construction can begin soon on the 4 lane road and traffic lights half half between 4th and 5th lines in the next 6-9 months.

Will let everyone know when the capital budget for 2009 will be discussing for your comments and ideas.

Hi Buttafly 77

It was never in the Capital Budget at all until I pushed for it to be considered in last years budget.

Previously when I was elected to the Town and Region in 2006 the former Regional Public Works director stated to me he was estimating about about 2022-24 maybe.

I can drop off a list of regional road projects for the next 10 years if you or anyone else is interested, as it is on legal sized paper and has over 50 projects mostly in the Milton area which is growing at double the rate we were last year with over 1665 new home permits issued as of June 30th this year compared to 1724 new homes permits for all of 2007.

The Town and Region are working together for more Accelerated roads projects similar to the Derry Road widening to the #407 which was not to start till 2012 but thanks to Mattamy and Fieldgate homes the Derry road projects have been advanced through loans to the Region and Town for Derry Road and other porjects.

Hi just lurking

The connection of Laurier with 4th Line depends on the application by the builders in the Clarke neighbourhood which have not come to council for the final rezoning and site plan approval.

Check the Milton trails map or hdsb.ca for a map of the proposed residential area which should happen sometime in 2009 depending on the application, the market and construction scheduling.

You can drive on Lauirer ave. to about 200 metres west of 4th line with the new homes to the north of Laurier being occupied later this August with the majority of the homes closing in 2009.
