Milton Education Village open house today - Monday April 19th starting at 6pm at Town Hall.

The town will unveil designs for the Milton Education Village (MEV) and also adjacent future growth (Boyne Survey community). Boyne is the area south of Louis St. Laurent Avenue to Britannia Road, between Tremaine Road and James Snow Parkway. MEV is 450 acres in size, on the west side of Tremaine between Derry and Britannia.

This will be held in the lobby of Milton’s Town Hall (West)

I'll be there! Hoping they might have some new news about Laurier University coming to Milton.

So, I guess you would be asking a lot of questions about no. of residences on-campus? :)...

So, I won't get any inside information about when to line up to buy a townhome in front of the HEV? :(

Dropped in briefly, picked up a copy of the report and chatted with Andrew Siltala from the town regarding Laurier and a bit about their curriculum proposals - what's known at the moment, as well as the R&D and green technology focus and economic development potential for the town. Very interesting. Also enjoyed the opportunity to get a first glance at the Boyne Survey proposal. Zeeshan, I'd love to hear your thoughts on transit design with the current proposal.

Went there briefly in my baseball hat and track pants and felt kind of out of place but good old Rick was there to say hi and Zman was just pulling in. I heard a snippet from a conversation that they are planning another GO station near 401 & Tremaine...

Most of the people there all dressed up were either staff (so they work for you) or town council members (also working for you) or wanna-be-town-council-members (myself included - so we don't work for you yet but we also want to work for you).

So you shouldn't feel out of place showing up to a public open house wearing track pants and a baseball hat. Because remember, in a realistic sense your the boss.

I've heard that too, as well as one around Trafalgar & 401. Re-aligned Tremaine and 401 is also in planning stage for an interchange with the 401.

Sorry I missed you there. I came in around 640 or so to take a look around before the admin and planning meeting at 730. Lots of information to absorb as well.

In the meeting, they wre showing an updated sketch of the boyne survey but I couldnt find the same sketch in the hand-out. I am particularly interested in the development planned along the 4th line. They were showing couple of elementary schools along 4th line etc. etc.

I think the updated sketch you are referring to is either pages 35, 34 or 33 of this PDF. On pages 34 & 35 it does show additional elementary schools around that area.

The handout was more for the MEV portion of the open house.

Its a 35 page report but if you go to the last 2 pages it shows a map, which I beleive was the one we looked at last night, showing the plans for our area between Thompson Road and 4th line south of LSL.

^^^ Thanks Rick & Mike,
I have seen this before but I think they had a bit more detail on the sketch that they showed yesterday but maybe I am wrong...

:D . No problemo Zeeshan. Definitely lots of information to absorb and I'm happy to wait for comments after you've had a chance to do your consultations. Good preparation for that Councillor position.... .

I saw, picked up the report, asked my questions and chatted to the Mayor, Andrew, and the fellow from Laurier. Then I went to grab a coffee from Coffee Culture, and prepare for the committee, and council meetings.
