| So now that September has been over for almost a week, has anyone heard any updated information regarding when Thompson road will be finished? I have to drive it to get to the GO train station in the morning and the delays are driving me crazy!!!! |

| It's very difficult to be stuck in traffic on this road only to look over and see a completely finished road next to you barricaded from cars. |

| It is sooo frustrating....Seeing all the pylons and open road that is not being used....I mean, this has been going on for most of the summer. I heard somewhere that this would be completed by end of Sept. but seeing that we are in Oct., that is not the case. Oh well, Milton is expanding....We need to get used to all the construction and delays. |

Been here in 2005, and since then there was already construction on Thompson Road, it's now almost 2009 and there's still construction in Thompson Road.
First they fix the left lane, after that, they fix the right lane. When the right lane is completed they ripped the left lane again, after fixing the left lane, guess what they ripped the right lane again, it looks as if the cycle never ends . |

| I think they have to pave the whole thing one last time after they get all the lights setup. They have all those raised manhole covers that they have to get even with the asphalt. They did the same thing with Derry where the road look finished but it was six months later before the road was opened. This King construction company is a real piece of work. |

Hi everyone
I'm just as unhappy as you are with the rate of construction on the Main to Derry Road section of Thompson Road. I drive on Thompson road almost everyday and have been after staff to get the contractor to finish the work as soon as possible.
I understand that the top coat of pavement is being poured starting Wednesday (weather permiting) and should take four days to complete the paving on both sides of road with the final road markings and traffic lights operational later next week. The official opening is scheduled for October 23rd at the Thompson Road arena and will have more details when they become available.

While on the topic of completion of construction projects.... Are the Derry Rd. Expansion and Trafalger Rd. Expansion still on schedule to be completed as PROMISED???
Or are these just another victim of "goverment project management" and their history of over promising and under delivering??
Colin and updates on these? _________________ Paul (P. Eng, MBA) |

Thanks for responding Colin. I am sure that you are doing everything you can to expidite the construction on Thompson. I just hate missing my train because of traffic (but I hate getting up early even more). |

Why do you guys subject yourselves to the aggravation of that road, and let the car needlessly idle every morning? Use Ontario St or even James Snow!
I avoid Thompson like the plague, and when I need to get to Goodlife, Home Depot or Canadian Tire, I usually use Ontario or JSP and get there without too much trouble. When you idle, you get 0 miles per gallon too. And even though you might run into more red lights taking the alternates, you'll still get to your destination faster (and be able to pick up a Timmy's along the way for your train trip ). _________________

What are you talking about dude? My car has a trip computer and it says "99 mpg" whenever I idle. I plan to just sit around never drive, and get awesome mileage. _________________ Candidate For Ward 8

Thanks AlphaMale - I've been trying to tell people that for some time too!
6 minutes from Thompson/Derry to the GO station via Ontario. |

Hi ppst99
I spoke to Tim Dennis the Regional construction manager today at the Regional Council meeting and he notes that the Derry Road widening from James Snow Parkway to Highway #407, the Trafalgar road widening and overpass over the CPR line are both on schedule with both to be open about late spring 2009.
The James Snow Parkway extention to Britannia Road is still behind schedule due to some property matters which are being resolved in the next few weeks for the road to be open by the end of this year.
More information to follow as staff at both the local and regional level are working on the 2009 Capital and Current budgets for presentation to both councils early in December.

You sure that isn't reading 99 L / 100k?
When I idle, my engine shuts off, but I still haven't been able to deal with the level of smug pollution coming from the driver seat of my hybrid yet. _________________ 14C - Lot 82 - Upland B
