Hi,

We just moved into our place and of course there are a million people coming door to door for various things, one being to have us lock in our gas rate.

Has anyone locked in? At what rate? What are the reputable companies (I've heard that there are a lot of scams out there).

TIA

Go to www.energyshop.com, click on for Residential enter in your postal code (new one for HV) and it does natural gas price comparisons between different suppliers in your area.

We're going with Direct Energy. Only because we're currently in a 5 year contract with them at our current home, and we can transfer that existing contract to our new home. Our current contract is much better than what existing rates are, so by no means do we want to switch at this time.

From a customer relationship perspective though we've had some issues with Direct Energy in the past.

But if you are a "new" home buyer and not moving from a current home where you already have a transferable gas contract, then I'd simply look at energyshop.com and go with whoever's providing the best rate for the term you want.
