We are thinking about removing our laundry tub in our laundry room to create a bit more room for potential cabinets or a drying rack. We have switched our second floor main bathroom and laundry room around resulting in losing some space in the new laundry room. We currently have a laundry tub beside our washer and really only use it for washing my husbands soccer boots and defrosting the turkey twice a year. Never to do hand washables. What are your opinions? Should we keep it or would it be ok to do without?? I know there are some houses that don't even have a tub as an option due to space so it really can't serve that much of a purpose :? !

What do you think we should do??

Cindy

We have a second floor Laundry. Our tub came standard in the basement though.

So, if you want the best of both worlds, get your laundry tub moved to the basement, maybe in the furnace room.

It is not often I need one but cleaning paint brushes, muddy boots etc.... It would still be handy to have.

Just a thought.

I know they will charge you but not sure how much. How far into the process are you? Have you picked your upgrades yet?

You could always add the tub yourself in the basement later and just cap the drain and taps in your laundry room incase you (or future owners) change their mind.

Our basement foundation is poured with windows but nothing else is done. Does that mean we are SOL?? We are a firelot house. This is a last minute addition to our choices as we have pretty much already signed off on all of our upgrades/choices a while ago!

We have a second floor laundry with a tub and it came very handy a lot of times (two small kids will make sure it is used quite often). We do not have a tub in the basement and we're planning in putting one there.

Since the tub in the laundry room (Mattamy supplied) is of very standard (poor) quality we will transfer it in the basement and put a better quality one in the laundry.

Total cost for all this less then $100, no labor costs if free lunch/dinner to my plumber friend is excluded.

Is it really that easy to install a laundry tub in the basement?? Do we need Mattamy to install a water line/hook up in the basement? Ideally i'd like to delete the laundry tub from the laundry room and transfer it to the basement instead!
