Two days in a row! Too bad you didn't read the thread yesterday.

Last night I double checked to make sure our van was locked... I'm so sorry to hear that your belongings were stolen.

Please make a report so we can stop these scoundrels!

You'd think with all of the posts on the subject lately people would be remembering to lock their doors!

I'm curious to know if the ones being entered have automatic locks or not...?
I hit the lock button on my keychain every night before heading to bed. You don't even have to go outside to do it..

Just a heads up to everyone who parks their car in their driveway, try and remember to take in or hide your garage door opener.
I had a co-worker who's car was broken into, they used the garage remote (which was cliped to the visor) to gain access to her garage and then ultimately to her house because she forgot to lock that that access door. Luckily for her they only focused on the electronics on the first floor and didn't go upstairs where she was sleeping.

Good call on that one. Luckily I triple check that my doors are locked...but that's scary!

There was a time where you could leave your front door unlocked at night, you could leave your car running in the driveway, let your kids out to wander by themselves, leave your garage door open and nothing would have happened.
Milton sure isn't what it used to be...

It's not Milton, it's pretty much the world in general. I've lived a lot of places, and they all wind up here eventually (and not because of me :D )

Oh wow.........on Mara Circle  . I thought it was one of the most safest streets in Milton and people seem pretty close knit! I was going to take the Mrs. to see the Westmoreland on sale and try to sell her on the safety aspect :). I guess we will stay put now :).

It can happen anywhere nowadays...

Maybe in terms of population, since now we have 60,000 people living here so the crime rate looks lower.
I really can't believe that it's falling. There definitely were cars being broken into I'm not denying that, but it happened a lot less frequently. I don't really remember hearing about stabbings every other month either...

BAAAHAHAHAH!!! I know I personally love that street! I drive by sometimes when I am going to Shoppers and always see kids playing hockey and adults hanging out. Yea, I absolutely will NEVER use an agent at least when I am buying. Not sure why people want to give away 2.5% to someone when they can use that as a negotiation tool themselves...

The thing is that we are in a Tothburg and LOVE the circular stairs and it would pretty much be a lateral move for us...

Goodluck with the sale.......it is in a great model on a great location and from what I remember it is well manicured from outside.

So I have a theory, not solid, but a theory regardless. Its also baseless, so I'm not accusing anyone at this stage, but I thought I would generate the idea for discussion.

Who is out patrolling the streets at 1am - 5am that people wouldnt even bother noticing on the streets at night? Parking Control. These guys make peanuts for wages, so there is certainly financial incentive to steal. They would generally know the habits of the neighbourhoods as they are constantly patrolling them. They can also get close to cars without arousing suspicion.

I know it sounds crazy, but in this day and age anything is possible.

Being on the Milton Police Committee (as Tony Lambert can attest) we get updates on the numbers of crimes in the area. With more people comes more opportunities for crime. The numbers of these break ins are on the increase, especially during this time of year. Not to say its sky rocketing but there are more reported break ins like the ones I and others have suffered in recent months. Which makes it all the more important for people to be aware so that these crimes of opportunity will stop.

more people = more crime
Just the way it is, if it hasn't increased (although I believe it has) I can guarentee you this will only get worse, not better.

It's not that the number of people has increased but that the quality and character of people have decreased.

Family values like respect, honesty and consideration have gone by the wayside. Parents today say "kids wil be kids" instead of allowing them to face the consequences of their actions. We teach kids that they are never responsible for their actions. No homework done? We're robbing them of a childhood. No chores done? It's their room, they don't need to clean it. Spending irresponsibly? Mummy & Daddy will bail out. Criminal activity? Society has failed them. Stole from someone's driveway? Well they should have locked their car - kids will be kids.

It's not the number of people in Milton that's the issue.

It makes me so angry that I just want to sit at my window all night on patrol! I'd love to catch the degenerate punks in the act
