Raid Max.
Had a ton attacking my willow tree and that seemed to do the trick. They're gone now.

Read this post last night and kept it in the back of my mind when I was in the backyard today. Hubby beat me to it and told me there are tons of these beetles all over our fruit trees and vegetable garden. There were tons of them along with some beetle that is yellow with black stripes across the back, not sure what that is. We used Bug B Gone and will hope for the best.

I had some of those yellow beetles with black stripes too, but haven't seen them in a couple of days. Between dumping warm soapy water and Raid Max on my willow, and soapy water in the back yard (veggie garden - didn't want to use the Raid) they seem to have dissappeared. Maybe they just moved next door after being tortured.

My mother had the same situation last summer. She sprayed a solution of water and dish-washing liquid directly on the bugs. this caused them to fall of the leaves/branches. She caught these falling bugs in a bucket of water and got rid off them. She did this every day until they were all gone.

Will the Bug B gone get rid of these Japanese Beetles? We have more of a problem than I originally anticipated. I searched the internet last night and I read something about the larva attacking the root of the tree while the adult destroys the leaves on the tree. So now I'm wondering if I need to spray at the bottom of the tree along with the leaves on the tree.

I have 5 fruit trees and they are not looking good right now. I did a walk by tonight and the honeycrisp apple tree has leaves on the tips of the branches that have all turned light green along with the stem down to about the middle where it is normal color again. I'm assuming this part of the tree is dead and that it needs to be cut off? The royal gala tree still had some of the beetles on it sucking the life out of it or chewing the leaves to shreds. The cherry tree and italian plum tree have leaves looking like shreds on them to a more severe degree. The peach tree is questionable at this point, then there is the veggie garden and fruit garden that has been damaged as well by this little bugger.

I need something that is going to get rid of these things but I can't have anything with strong chemicals because of the vegetables and fruit.
