Mattamy had an option for a conduit from the attic to the basement. Best $150 I spent.

Similar thing happened to me in the past (also with CTV 9-1; all others continued to work). I fixed it by simply having the TV doing a re-scan, although I can't explain why that did it.

You lose a great deal of signal by attic mounting. It is a proven fact. If you are able to attic mount and still get suitable reception you are fortunate. The best chance for success in attempting an OTA install is to mount outside and as high as possible. The clearstream line of ANTs is from Antennas Direct, which are every bit as good a product (if not better) than Channel Master.

The reason CTV drops out is they made the perplexing decision this past August to start broadcasting in the VHF Hi band, as did CHCH. Your Antenna is very likely designed primarily for UHF channels.

I have been using OTA antenna's for a while but when I moved to our new built house from Mattamy I have not placed the antenna in the attic as of yet. I know that ideally I would like it on the roof, but for now would like to place it in the attic.

My question is how do you move around up there? With mine when I went and took a look, with all the blown insulation i can not even see the rafters and where to step. I can see the framing for the roof so I know they are attached there but would not really know or feel comfortable stepping around (unless I want to have my foot drop through like in National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation).

I want to get over and mount it to the area nearest the conduit to the basement I had installed.

Thanks in advance.

Guys the simplest way to solve your issues is get the Antenna outside and on the roof - as high as possible.

You will experience problems if you mount on the inside just because of the logistics - the antenna needs a clear signal path.

Ok to be honest it was some kid posting on kijiji and it was 3 years ago so I don't have the info anymore. He charged me 120 bucks I think and I had to help him - although I didn't go up on the roof.

I think Antenna installation through a service company these days will cost about 400....................

so, some kid from kijiji working on your roof, think he has worker's comp insurance?

this is why I don't do this stuff any more, plus the commercial truck insurance

getting insurance just increases the kids costs. Then he has to charge us more. lol

He probably didn't have insurance but WTH if you do everything by the book all of the time you'll never get ahead.

Hey, does anyone have any advice on installing an antenna. I've decided to go this route rather than pay Bell or Cogeco. Where does one go to buy one of these and who to install it (should I deem it too much to do myself)?

My advice eat the initial cost and find someone to install it for you.

Probably around 300-400 bucks or look on kijiji for someone willing to do it for cheap.
