we are given 2 choices for door styles at the design centre
1-the one with the squares/rectangles
2-the one with the arch

which one did you pick (which one do you like?) and why?

and is it true that the garage door is ALWAYS the one with the squares and cannot be changed?

thanks for your advice! I have already looked at the doors and picked mine...all I wanted to see was what most other people have chosen and their reasoning for it...if I find that most people have chosen the other door with good reasoning, I will consider changing my choice.

Its simple! Just read the post and if you would like to share your particular choice please do otherwise there really is no need to post!
thanks once again!

are you talking about interior doors? we picked the Cheyenne one and love it! and yeah the garage one has to be the one with the squares because it's metal door... I'm pretty sure that's what they told us.

is that the one with the arch? or is it an upgrade? and yes, I was talking about the interior dooors.
also, do u find that the garage door stands out too much/looks ugly if u get another style for all the other doors?

Hi aishaali,
is the rectangular door considered an upgrade?
thanks!

We chose colonial since our current home has the "classique" look (arch doorway), so frankly we're bored of it and it reminds me of our current outdated kitchen cabinetry.

The colonial will look better w/ our new kitchen cabinetry choices and I feel is more contemporary -- or closer to it anyway.
It's all a personal preference. I'm sure I'll get bored of this one too once we have it. ha ha

Hi there,

My fiance and I picked the colonial (the ones with the squares). We felt it was a more contemporary look and we like how it ties in with the garage door style (you're right, it always has to be the colonial) and our kitchen cabinets style.

Hope this helps...

Stephanie

Cheyenne has an arch too but also lines that rin vertically in the little inside part... does that make any sense??

It wasn't an upgrade for us, it was a choice for the towns at the time...

In my house there will be the garage door (the squares) and right beside it the pantry and the door to the basement, I hope it doesn't look bad having two different styles, but hardly anyone will see it and we really liked the other doors so we went with it anyway :D

now that you've described it, it makes perfect sense...I've seen it in one of the factory built homes on McDougall. I really liked it....but didn't know what it was called...I'll have to ask Carol if its an upgrade or if its included in our choices. I'm just kinda worried that it'll look ugly with the garage door. :?

Haven't seen the Mattamy garage doors yet, but I assume they're heavier steel doors with a deadbolt lock (and thus will look different from your interior doors anyway).

In our current house the garage entry door is a different style from interior passage doors and it doesn't look odd at all, since we've always just understood it as an entry door and not a passage door. Similarly our front and back entry doors are a different design from interior passage doors, and that doesn't look odd either.

Hope that makes sense. Just go with whichever design you like best, and it will look great!
