This is not good. My friend has been waiting for his kitchen cabinets since early January.

Hopefully they'll switch to someone like Pearl Kitchens. Excellent supplier of quality workmanship. I've worked with a number of clients referring them.

So what does this mean for those of us closing in early 2009? (ie. Feb 2009)

To be honest...
First our brick was discontinued. Before leaving on a business trip, I spoke to Paola and asked if there was anything else they needed. Within a couple days of leaving i began getting REPEATED calls from the sales center saying we need to come choose a new brick. I had a VERY specific conversation with Paola saying I would be away and unavailable, so please tell me know if there is anyting they need from me... within 2 days of her saying there is NOTHING more they need i get harassing calls fro the sales center to change my brick? WTF!

We had paid for the Signature 4 expresso oak cabinets, mission style doors, with crown molding and flush valence and if they are unable to provide these or an equivalent upgrade with the same finish and style at NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE. I'm ready to walk away from this BS.

I will tell them where they can take their house and stick it.

I think they should just give us the option to pick through Aya...they have so many nice colors anyways it would be easy to choose.

Has anyone heard back from their DC rep yet? What if we haven't picked our cabinets yet? Our final meeting is in Nov...

Couldn't be anymore true! I laughed out loud on that one.

Mattamy had to have known. My uncle has worked at Canac for 20+ years and lay-offs have been going on all year. My uncle just got laid off in August and he had outlasted most in the factory.

I figured they were closing that plant and we would be getting our cabinets from another. I didn't expect Canac as a whole to be shut down.

Hmm, I wonder if that's why when we came in for our tour of the DC, the girl told us that the cabinets that are currently displayed might not necessarily be the ones that we'll be picking because the supplier might change.

I just hope that they'll have better or at least similar to what we chose.

We were just there on wed for our first DC appt and our consultant never mentioned anything about it, weird. If they knew about this for months then Mr. Mastermind Crook should have already had a back up plan to tell his customers. Instead we have to accept the fact that we are being lied to and told “ohhhh, we don’t know anything about that.”

Our consultant never said anything either, it was one of the girls that are there during the open house. I wonder if it just slipped out by accident, because my sister and brother in law came in the same day as us, and a different girl that was showing them around didn't mention anything to them either.

The news of Canac closing was in the news a couple months ago. I will need to locate the news title string. But Kohler who owns Canac stated that the production of the cabinet would be done in the ( I believe North Carolina location ) USA. So if this is true, your kitchens will still be made but will have to travel a lot further to Milton.

I emailed Tiffany earlier this morning, and she got back to me saying that the contracts department is currently working on the matter. Once they're given clear directions, they'll be sharing it with the rest of the homeowners. Now we have to play the waiting game...
