well. richard and i got our framewalk call. we go on monday, first thing in the morning. too excited.

Hey guys!

How did you walk through go? Any tips or things you found? Was it easy to spot?

hey there!
framewalk went good. nothing really to note. they said it would take about 30 minutes, but ours only took 10. we didn't really have any questions or concerns because anything we did want fixed we called the construction office and they did it almost immediately. we have some honeycombing in the foundation and a huge hole that was filled with expanda-foam stuff. we mentioned we didnt like that, but he said its above ground so it should be okay, but we are covered under warranty if anything leaks.

thats about it. lol.

we get our insulation installed on wednesday and then drywall. then he said they have some tile coming in early july.

Hey Lesley,

I just checked ours using our specific address and we are L9T7N2. :) I see progress. Now Sandra and I can send our wedding thank you cards with our NEW return address.

Thanks for the info.

That's awesome that you guys have postal codes now! Very exciting indeed. Copacrew you reminded me of when we got married back in '04 and the house we are currently in was closing in a matter of months and we were SO excited to be able to send out our new address cards in our thank you cards once we figured out our postal code! Great memories! :D

The Canada post website is currently down so i'm going to keep checking throughout the day to see if we have ours yet. I want to order my address stamp! :)

Hi Steph!

Your colour selections sound great! Our colour appointment is tomorrow morning and i'm looking forward to finalizing everything.

Our must haves: Potlights on the porch
9 ft ceilings upstairs
smooth ceilings downstairs
double sinks in ensuite and bathroom
quartz/granite in kitchen/undermount sink
Cold cellar
Hardwood stairs
Central vac and toe kick

Those are some of the major things that come to mind plus there was a bunch of other smaller things.

We also chose (will choose tomorrow) espresso cabinets and the dark quartz, handstone counter (can't remember the name at the moment) along with a grey glass backsplash and a neutral floor.

We are also going with Portobello for paint.

Hi Milo!

Yes 9 ft ceilings are available upstairs at a whopping $5500 (approximately) price point. We are only getting the smooth ceilings downtstairs- I actuall don't mind the popcorn to be honest so it's a non issue for me upstairs :)

Milo- I actually think the 9 ft ceiling cost is standard across the board regardless of house size but maybe someone else who got them can confirm? The exact price is $5897.00

They won't do smooth ceilings upstairs. Basically, they can't guarantee the workmanship and refuse to do so on those grounds. Which sucks.

Ha srry Mlo- you are right I wrote down the wrong info- can I still blame it on baby brain? The price I quoted is for 9 ft ceilings- i'm not sure of the cost for smooth ceilings upstairs...

ETA: Thanks kosh!

smooth ceilings are difficult to achieve a good finish and will easily show any poppin screw heads. Our money was better spent else where, but thats a personal decision.

We didn't spend $ on upgraded counters, or upgraded cabinets. We got the colour that we wanted in a style very similar to what we wanted. Standard cabinet hardware, because that can be changed later on.

No cantina because that can be built later on and carpet because we will put in hardwood at a fraction of the cost at a later date.

this will be our first house, so we don't see a need to break the bank.
