We drove by yesterday to see our house. Surprisingly, the basements have been done on lot 218 up to lot 225 or 226. I was so exited that I believe I counted the lots wrong. Wettlaufer Terrace is coming to life.

Just a couple observations.

The other day I helped with a PDI on Gooch and we noticed that this particular home had no sump pump. Sump Pumps are a municipal requirement so I guess the Town of Milton decided that they were not necessary in that location.

As you may know, Mattamy has had many problems with the grout cracking on ceramic floors. In this home the I-Beam Joists were doubled up under the kitchen and main hall. This will go a long way in preventing cracks in the grout.

this is the first time I heard this.

How can I make sure that mattamy takes every step to ensure the grout does not crack?

Mattamy calls you to book your PDI, but you don't get to select the date (at least in our case) but just time. I heard it usually takes 2~3 hours, and it took 3 hours for us.

We finally closed yesterday. I still can't believe we actually own the house now. lol

ok perfect. thanks for the information! how far in advance did they call and book it with you??
congrats on getting your keys! so exciting! i cant wait for our turn. lol.

All we did was print off the "Valuable Checklists...." from the top of the general page there are two links there I believe referring to framewalks. We used that as a guide. Overall I personally didn't find it all that impressive, but maybe my husband did. LOL
Good luck and enjoy. Essentially make sure everything is in the right place, easily accessible no awkward placement of anything...

Mike only asked about one thing and we got the run around on it so we didn't feel it was too useful for us- but that could be a good thing like no glaring issues.

The Framwalk is pretty basic as cookiepaws say's. they will have a list of your upgrades and walk through the home checking each one off. Just keep an eye open for heating vent in strange places, and be sure light switches are found directly in side the door while entering the room. (Not out side the powder room or far into the room). I would also bring a camera or video camera to take pic of the frame work if you are planing to install pot lights in the future. It can also be handy to know where the studs and venation is located in the future in case you want to hang a flat screen or something. Have fun... :D :D :D

Thank you, Lesley.

Your turn is just right at the corner. You must be so excited too. We can see all the houses coming along on Pringle from our family room upstairs. It's quite nice. :)

About PDI, I don't remember exactly, but they called us less than 2 weeks before the closing date. And our PDI was exactly one week before the closing.

Good luck with your PDI!!

yeah, we are so excited. its finally coming up! lol.
we are just trying to finalize everything like hydro, cable, insurance, etc.
what a headache it can be sometimes! but it will be worth it when we are in!
