Is this topic still active?
Anyone wants to share any issues / difficulties
related with our new homes?

Just an update:
I contacted Mattamy Head office for the last 4 weeks
asking them about some major problems.
As they made an error design on our water drainage system,
they promised to put eaves troughs as a solution
on the brick wall under the deck (they having said this 2 months ago).
But as of today they still can't give me the exact date when it will be done.

About the grading part in front of Magurn Lane's house (the municipal boulevard area), they also don't have an answer either, as the work is undertaken by their Land Development division and it is on their schedule for completion.

I'm still waiting to get an asnwer from them.Hopefully by Monday.
Anyone heard anything about this?

this thread will always be "active"... we're just a bit slow as some of us have recently moved in not too long ago, and some very soon. Do you live on Magurn Lane or Magurn Gate? which lot #?

I haven't heard of issues with draining??

also I'm on Magurn Gate, so I don't think the grading issue affects me

Hello HV186.

Welcome to the forum. I just have one question. Have you been on this thread before? I ask because I have been on since the beginning but I don't recognize your handle. Anyways it doesn't matter. Welcome welcome welcome. We are always interested in meeting our neighbours who are new to the site. I am Andrea and live in 185-4 on the Magurn Gate side of the street. Mine is the middle townhouse with the sticks on the deck at the back.
Anyways to answer your question about the issue with the eavestroffs. I haven't heard anything about it. I had asked the Warranty manager Lee about it when he had come out to the house but he didn't have any infomation for me. I intend to put it on my year end form as it was one of the things that I missed on my thirty day form.

With regard to your grading in the front of your home. i honestly don't believe they are still going to do it before the winter. It has gotten pretty cold out and I am of the impression that if it wasn't down before the thanksgiving holiday that it is not going to get done until the spring. I noticed that the homes along Scott recieved their trees and the homes along Magurn Gate didn't. So I think they aren't planting anymore. I also noted that they seem to be trying to get the landscaping for the school done before the winter and maybe that is holding us up as well.

Please let us know which lot you are and what your name is. If you see me on the laneway drop by and say hi.

Looks like we're finally done with our moving, everything seems to be nice so far.

Can anybody tell me about the garbage pickup? Specifically, what do I do to get our trash collected? I called the City, and they said there will be something in the mail, but nothing so far...also, where do I get the bins - will I have to purchase them or the city will provide?

Congrats Kozm on moving in!! Thought we saw you guys inside but didnt know if you were in or not.

Garbage pickup is not scheduled yet. Clint was by here tonight and I asked about it. He said you can leave your bags outside the garage door and they (Mattamy) will pick it up if they are driving by. We have been just taking them to the bins ourselves when we have 3-4 bags ready to trash.

Unfortunately, that leaves recycling to be put on the wayside until we get curbside pickup. Once it starts, weekly is recycling and green (compost) and every two weeks is general garbage (max 6 bags). You can pick up from the Landfill some blue and green boxes (2 blue/1green) per household I believe. If you don't want to drive down there (Hwy 25/Lower Base Line) then Canadian Tire sells them for a reasonable price.

Just wanted to warn the Gaters/Laners about the energy resellers who already started knocking on our doors. Yesterday my wife opened the door to one of them, wasn't sure what's going on and called me, at which point I told the guy to get out (he complied).

Well I guess this is one of the upsides to living with a front that's a mud bowl, no solicitors ;-)

For those of you who need to give directions for your guests - mapquest.ca has both the Lane and the Gate. Shame on Google :(

We closed 2 weeks ago and we still can't get our fridge installed.

We asked Ryan to put it up on our balconey with a fork lift because the guys we paid to install it last week couldn't get it through the tiny Mattamy door... 29 inch clearance!? @()$*&)#*)&*

So we are $120 poorer, still have a fridge in the box in our garage and we are using a cooler to keep food cold...

Have you tried to remove the doors from the fridge? Are there any parts that can be taken off the fridge to help with getting it through?

We have this one, only in black: http://www.sears.ca/product/samsung-26- ... /463622653

The movers were able to remove all doors and to get it to the kitchen with only a few minor scratches on the wall, which we have already fixed. If yours is larger, this may be an issue, as ours just barely made it without the doors.
