Question Zeesh - did you buy it with a credit card?
Was it perhaps a credit card with a benefit that adds a year to product warranties? (Many cards have this, and most people don't even know about it!)

That aside, sorry to hear about the PITA service reps you're dealing with. You did report the problem several times and they never fixed it. I would argue until I'm blue in the face that they owe me a new TV. I hate when companies try to pull something like that.

Samsung is probably the most popular TV that I install right now, at least 3 this week so far. Panasonic being a very close second.

Typical issue that I get with Samsung is the green line down the edge when using a Scientific Atlanta cable box.

I heard a guy on the radio talking about this recently. He too was over warranty and eventually hired a guy to come over and replace faulty part - a capacitor.

Pain in the butt ... and not what I've come to expect from Samsung.

+1 for Fred D's comment look into this as almost all credit cards with any annual fee will have this type of protection.

Zman, you are having a lot of problems lately :(. I bought my in-laws a 52" Samsung LCD as well, couple of weeks ago. They wanted to buy the extended warranty and I convinced them otherwise and I wouldn't hear the end of it if something happens :oops:

That does sound like crappy customer service and sucky that the TV died, I had ready stuff similar to this about Samsung tvs when I was shopping for one, which is why I bought a Sharp. :D

I agree with fillerguy about the ups. I have anything electronic that's worth more then a couple hundred bucks plugged into one ups or another (I have 3 in my house, 1 for each office and 1 for the entertainment centre). It's also nice to have have everything turn off when the hydro flickers as it so likes to do in HVE :|

Are you guys talking about actual UPS units or surge protectors, like the ones from monster cables?

I'm talking about actual UPS. The one in my office is actually 'server' back ups. My computer, with 5.1 thx speakers, 24" monitor will run for 1.5 hours on it hehe.

The other two are just small 15 minute type deals, but are better for those areas because of their small compact size ... and also don't weight 300 pounds.

The same thing happened to me, except after 3 years. First i tweeted about it. This got Samsung's attention. They didnt do anything so I went to that TV store on Thompson and Main and they fixed it for me. It costed something like $350.

Samsungs underrated caps are usally only good for 18 months before they fail really a very common problem I was hoping they would fix this problem with the new led 7000 and 8000 series slim tvs , they are just beautful , but the caps are failing on these modles now to. I have to agree with Kevin after much reasearch I too went with sharp and never looked back.

Agreed. This is what we do as well. In our previous home in Toronto we had so many equipment failures that we determined it was very likely due to unstable power supply.

Zeeshan, almost everything we have is Samsung or LG too (computer LCD screens, kitchen appliances, TV LCD's even laundry appliances) and I have to say, also disappointed at the type of customer service you have received. It'll make me think twice before buying again as well. That being said, our Samsung dryer is making a strange noise and is still under warranty, guess I'd better get on that...

Actually, I have one with no annual fee with this feature too - It has no 'points', but I use it for all my electronics / appliance purchases.

Zeeesh, have you called them yet? Yes I'm curious :)

There are a lot of cards out there with no annual fee and extended warranty benefits and points as well. I have MBNA mastercard that offers 3% cashback on groceries & gas up to a max. of $600 spending in a month and then 1% on everything else with extended warranty, rental car insurance etc. All with no annual fee (But they stopped offering the card now to new customers but if you are an MBNA card holder and if you call to cancel your card then they offer this card as a "retention" card.

I heard not sure how true it is, but maybe it's worth investagating. If you complain three times in the warrenty period about the same problem and they can not fix it they have to replace it with a new one. Can you prove that you complained 3 times? Do you have emails or phone records or can you get one of the samsung people to email/send you a copy of your files.
Maybe call as a new customer and ask if this is true.

Hi Zeeshan,

I have a Samsung 750 series and after a few months started experiencing issues with the built in speakers. For my issue though it was caused by crap cables that were connected from my cable box to the TV.

Have you checked your power cable? or the outlet that the tv is connected to? Perhaps your tv is trying to pull in more power than your outlet is capable of.... Or perhaps the power cable itself is defective.
