I drop my kids off at PLR by car most mornings and the first intersection North of the school is dangerous. There are always people cutting out in front of the traffic, and I am paranoid when I go through that I will hit someone.

I know there was talk about a crossing guard for that intersection, and IMO it can't come soon enough.

I had to laugh... hee hee hee, playing Frogger with your kid. Jessica, you're my type of person. :)

I always thought that pedestrians always had the right of way? I could be wrong, but I for one agree with your points - I would have said something more mean to the father though, to the point of 'Take more care with your child, most people speed down this road, it would have been awful for either of you to be hit for not checking both ways first'. Of course, he would have given me the finger during that time and driven off before I was even done.

I wouldn't stop and get out of my car to tell someone off, but I have followed them, gotten their plates and reported them to the police before. I've even pulled up beside them and asked them with the window down if they realized they were being aggressive, or had made a mistake. Usually results in a 'sorry, I wasn't paying attention'. Well, that can cost lives!

I agree with most here...and I don't want to start any kind of debate..that wasn't my intention

Pedestrians DO always have the right of way. I was just shocked and upset (not mad as he didn't cause me to jam on the brakes or anything) that he didn't LOOK, or make any kind of eye contact, see a transport truck coming....NOTHING. What's to say some donkey isn't checking their blackberry (yes I know illegal, but let's be real here...) or anything else.

I too drive so carefully in that area, as I know it's dangerous to begin with...we are all trying to get that area safer and trying to report poor drivers to police, etc. I just was shocked at the flip side at the idiot (yes harsh, sorry) pedestrian.

I have right of way to just walk into the middle of Erin Mills Parkway and hope someone sees me and stops...but I don't...and definately not with one of my 5 or 6 year olds.....

I wasn't starting a confrontation...I didn't mean it that way..I guess you kind of had to hear me...I was just a little shocked. I really said it in kind of a high-pitched question....like I couldn't believe it...not in a condescending manner or yelling at him or anything like that.

I have to be honest....I thoroughly understand the man's frustration at the situation at hand. (anyone look up an old post of mine where I was making eye contact and walking onto the road towards speeding cars on Scott further down towards Main??) I'm not trying to be a hypocrite, but I wouldn't do this with my child. Nor would I scream at anyone to "SCREW YOU" in front of my child or anyone walking past (lots) or a walking school bus! LOL

Anyhow...I didn't want to start a debate on if or how much of a jack he was......it was just supposed to be a funny post on how surprising your morning can turn out...and you can't always expect people to "behave" or "react" in the manner you were expecting. (I can't think of the right words...sorry!)

Jessica :)

PS: Alphamale...yes...I was flattered, after the fact. You should try that line!! I know my husband may now that I gave him some new material!! LOL Kidding :)

Never mind all this, I just want to know what time Jessica drops the kids off so I can try to pick her up in her pajamas! All though I don't think my wife would be too pleased!

Jessica, agree with your OP... glad your day got better though.

Pedestrians do not have the right of way on a road, at a designated intersection where they are crossing with the light they do have the right of way, any where else they do NOT, that is why the have by laws for jay walking

Pedestrians only have the right of way in Parking lot's, cross walks and intersections where they have a walking signal (green light) they do not have the right of way on a major roadway.

Well if you read the villager closely, you would see that there has been a lot of controversy and debate in the past. However, most people avoid personal jabs at others for having an opinion. I don't like some people on here but I've learned that it's not worth it to result to personal insults or giving out negative karma anymore ( I say we get rid of that rick :) ). Jessica's been on here for a while. Get to know her first before you make judgements and putdowns. Welcome to the villager!! :)

Sorry, gotta say, some of her posts have come off as arrogant...some reek of self importance. Still, no reason to be mean and not keep an open mind.
