Bringing this thread back to life.
What is the success rate in getting them to change the ducting/plumbing to have Washer Right, Dryer Left?
We have our drains and ducting roughed in already, but it's still early on. Not all plumbing is complete yet. I brought this up verbally with the construction office during my Pre-Const. meeting, but failed (my own fault) to force it in writing. I was told "we do it the standard way, it should be fine" and I never thought to check the floor plan (again, probably my fault).
Who the f*** puts the dryer on the left? Every childhood memory I have of being in any home... be in my own place, grand parents, fat aunts, skinny uncles... where ever it may be, the Dryer was always on the Right.
We placed our laundry units in the basement.
Our washer and dryer locations were reversed too and we noticed this after they poured the concrete in the basement floor.
Our floor plan showed the 'correct' placement.
Mentioned it to the head builder at Mattamy U. He didn't really care.
Fortunately the builder for our house wanted things done correctly.
It took 3 attempts before they got it right.
I even drew them a diagram with measurements.
The vent opening for our dryer was so far away, they had to create another opening closer to the dryer.
They placed it where it was most convenient for them but if you don't feel you're getting what you paid for then I'd talk to them.
Good luck.
