For the non energy star phases, here is what I found about aluminum tape

Home Depot is the best place to get 1.9" x 148' rolls of aluminum tape ~$14 bucks





While Rona sells the ~ same size 2" x 30' roll for ~$4 bucks



The good thing about RONA is that they sell the 4" wide rolls for ~$19 bucks. I wish I could have found this earlier because I used 2" wide rolls to make 4" wide strips.

Canadian Tire sells small 2" rolls for around ~$6 bucks

For my house, here is what I approximatly used.

3 Canadian Tire rolls for 1st and 2nd floors.
3 Home Depot rolls for basement
1 Rona roll for basement.

So that ~ cost is $64 in aluminum tape...I wonder what my payback will be???????

And I believe I have 97% or more of all my hot&cold ducts taped up.

All I have to say is, you wouldn't believe how sloppy a job was done when the ducts were installed 1st, 2nd and basement floors. I definetly felt lots of air coming out at the seams of the rectangle ducts, ends and etc. I felt air being sucked into the cold air return at seams and etc.

Anyway, I'm glad its done...it only took me 2 weeks on and off Just for the basement.

Looks like either is viable, as long as it is not cloth duct tape. That only repairs furniture. You should see Paul's living room

I love that Canadian Tire AD

For the speed of using aluminum tape. It is my choice of product.
I don't have to worry about sealent dripping on my furnishings, carpet and etc in my basement.

If it only costs me $64 dollars in parts to do my whole house I think I am actually saving money.

I’m 40 almost, so DD is not touching anymore, and I’m getting more philosophical.
This is why I’m wondering why after paying HUGE MONEY for the best builder house we have to spend our time (which is money) to fix all these leaky holes by ourselves? If it is the best builder everything must be perfect at the new house and not so-so.
