guys, sometimes we have to be realistic. This kind of thing is normal in EVERY community. I think we should all consider ourselves lucky.
We can afford to buy beautiful homes of our own for ouselves and our family.
We have a BEAUTIFUL neighborhood where there are parks and trees.
People take GREAT pride in ownership of their homes.
We have wonderful neighbors. (for the most part)
There are great schools, with great kids and teachers in them.
We do not have:
Drug dealers and hookers on our streets/corners.
Junkies rampant in apartment hallways.
Gunfire and assault at all hours of the night.
Police sirens blaring at all times.
Houses that look like they should be demo-ed before human use.

We can walk around our community feeling safe, both during the day and at night. Our parks are clean.

I am hoping you were being sarcastic in your post....(if not it also sounds a little naiive to me, please don't be offended) because otherwise, if you are worried about a couple of teenagers who are harmless, a few Jehovah's Witnesses who I agree can be a little bothersome, normal issues with politics and city planning, and people dumping in a somewhat construction site....Then I really think you need to start counting your blessings.

Perhaps if you bought new you didn't get to go out with a realtor and actually see the houses and communities and people that are out there, and I'm not talking just the extreme.

Maybe I'm sounding a little harsh and psycho with this post and I apologize if you were being sarcastic, but I really think that we all need to remember these things, even if we are having a bad day, or not liking something that is going on.

Enjoy your new home, community, parks, schools, and neighbors.....you will be hard pressed to find such a great place anywhere else!

    Jessica :)

I agree that there are a few things that we have to fix but that doesnt take away from the untold number of things that make Milton THE best place to live. Part of that IS the ability of people in town to complain about things like speeding, dumping of garbage, kids smoking pot etc. The advent of the internet and blogs, forums and websites make the ability to share information rather quickly.

Some examples are with things like lost cats that have been posted. With an untold number of people reading THIS particular forum, information was quickly shared and in the best neighbourly way, people kept an eye out for that lost cat. Another great example of how this and other website work is the Hawthorne Village PS school situation that came to light. Not many people, including myself at the time, were aware of the public school boards proposal to include a portapack to allow for over 1200 students to attend that school. A decision like that would not only affect parents of children who attend HVPS but others in the area with increased traffic, etc. By posting a plea to parents to help make submissions to the board, there were an additional 11 submissions made in the last day alone. While 11 may not seem like a large number, it might just do the trick and awareness was raised.

With stop signs coming down and someone posting it on the board it was able to raise enough awareness where we can voice our displeasure / support for such actions and with the awareness raised, there has been further action taken by the town...we even had a town councillor (outside ward 1) take a look at the intersection, and even HES submitted a letter to town staff to urge them to reconsider that decision.

Where would we be without the ability to voice our concerns? Who knows but it does help. While some of the items may seem trivial to many, the issues do matter to others. I know I have been able to meet with many of you on the board, which just enhances our little community even further.

AND even though Ive been in Milton for 3 years now, I still find interesting tid bits on my Mattamy home that I never knew of before...thanks to sites like this.

So, keep the "complaining" for the lack of a better word coming...the more the better. The beauty of this board is that you can read something and if you dont like it or dont agree with it you can either say something or move on. Thats the best part.

This forum is like one big block party where we can all chat about things, gripe if we have to, give kudos to those who do good things... and laugh at ourselves sometimes.

Have a great day everyone...even those people going door to door....

oh, I agree....I hope my message didn't come across that way. I have no problems with people voicing their opinions and concerns, but I guess just the way that post was worded, it seemed to me that he just had the complete opinion that this place is a mess....that's what led me to believe that he might be being sarcastic...which is hard to convey on a forum.

I think issues like these are important to make our community even better by trying to fix them, and raise them into awareness...but you can't sit there and complain about EVERYTHING and come down on the whole community as a whole. You have to pick your issues and know that it is just one issue....not the community as a whole, which is how I interpreted that message.

Jessica :)

PS: Tim...haha sometimes I DO feel as though I have a dump next to me...you should see my house sometimes!!

I for one find this site very entertaining and occassionally informative.

People complain, raise silly issues or sometimes just post for no reason at all everyday.

Just ignore the posts you have no interest in as everyone else will ignore your posts when theye are not interested in what you say.

I agree that many of the threads are complaints about everything and have chimed in on some of them on occassion to state my feelings, but I find this still a good way to know what is going on in our community.

And yes I would move to this area because I like the burbs and it sounds very 'burbs' to me when i look at the postings.

My co-worker still says the Burbs that I live in is the Dr. Zeus neighbourhood.

See I got your attention which is good, shows you I've moved into a community where people do care whats happenning around them. Less talk and more action I say.

It makes me smile to see neighbours come together and hopefully work out there differences and make this a better place to live.

I don't want your garbage by the way, I think thats the rudest foulist nastiest meanest thing anyone could do to someone. I hope they get caught!!!! I will even keep an eye out for those LOOTERS!!
