Patrob,

What happens if the builder baseboard was replaced by a 7 1/4" baseboard with a shoe moulding? My concern is the shoe moulding will go on a weird angle because of the slope given we have a kitchen/great room layout.

Yes, you would have a slight slope of the shoe mould on the transition but sometimes it can be avoided by adding a piece at the bottom of the shoe mould.

That's the thing. I am trying to avoid that weird angle on the shoe moulding right where the wall nibs are on either side of the entrance from the kitchen to the great room. The only thing I could think of was having that shoe moulding slope right at the 90 degree corner on both sides just inside the great room and put some furniture or plant in those corners so you don't see it. So that would involve a mosaic ceramic stone strip the width of the entrance and the the hardwood transition piece. Hope I'm explaining it properly.

It doesn't really look that bad.

Hi Patrob
Sorry if somebody else already posted about laminate..but I can't find..
What do you think about laminate floors for family with big dog (golden retriever) and baby?
It seems to be more durable. And I think it's even cheaper...isn't it?
Thanks!

Yes it is cheaper than hardwood & more durable. You can find some laminates in single plank that have a very realistic look to hardwood.

It's softer & more grainy. At the same time it's less durable than maple. Birch is also more unstable.

thanks patrob for this thread i will call in the am to discuss... good thing i found this site/thread before i committed to the upgrade at DC.

Good decision not to go with the builder for the hardwood. You can save lots of $ :)
If you want a quote, e-mail me your floorplan, with what wood/colour you like & I will let you know how much it will cost approx.

Patrob, do you do laminates as well?
I have a dog (Golden Retriever) and I'm afraid to install hardwood floor and she will scratch all over.

If you do, can I email you with my floor plan for a quote?

What colors do you have? (I like the ones that seems to be real wood)

Thanks
Roberta and Pablo

The Hand Scraped hardwood would be a great choice in your situation if you do prefer the real thing & it will withstand dogs. We know many people who have dogs & have the Vintage hand scraped wood installed & have no problems. E-mail me your floorplan with what rooms you want done & what colour are your stairs stained.

Hey Patrob,

Are you still giving prices for hardwood flooring and installation?

Thanks,

Just send me more info with your floorplan, what rooms you want done, what wood species & colour, etc. Then I will be able to provide you with a quote.

Patricia...I am sooo sorry that I am leaving this feedback so late!

We had Patrob and her team complete our hardwood installation shortly after we closed in October and we could not be happier with the results!

We had the 5" baroque hand scraped planks installed throughout our main floor and love the end result!!!! The installers were quick, neat and very professional and our aftercare customer service has been fantastic! I highly recommend Floorwood Solutions....great team, great products and service! Thank-you!!!!

I will post pics sometimes this week!

Earlier this week, Robert and Derek from Floorwood Solutions Inc. installed the 5 inch White Oak Baroque hand scraped flooring in my Hazelnut C and the floors look amazing!
The hardwood flooring is flawless and rich looking. The workmanship is second to none. All of this was also done with very short notice. They went above and beyond by ensuring my floors were level and reinforcing them with wood screws. I love my floors!
Patrob......thank you for the great service!
