You know it won't do anything, right? Without proof, it's his word against yours.

You should also issue a warning to all those who think it's a 50KM/h road.

EDIT: Should clarfiy - Where on 4th Line? I'm talking about the Lower base line to britannia stretch - are you talking elsewhere?

Hope he gets burned, no respect. Just takes one kid to step over to the other side, and boom goes the dynamite.

I think he/she is talking about 4th line between Derry and Brittania. Yes, speeding, parked cars and increased traffic are all concerns that I will be taking up with Mike Cluett once he gets elected. He will have a busy tenure with my bitching to improve Ward 6!!!

Passing a bus with its lights on is a major no no.

Instead of reporting to the cops, report it to the bus driver. I'm pretty sure them reporting the license plate will get better reaction.

See here:
http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/safety ... pass.shtml

There is even a form for school bus drivers to fill out. Which as I expected carries some actual weight.

Oh well that's different. Yes, that area should be watched, especially with buses and kids. The area I'm talking about has no homes (well, just a couple WELL spread out homes and NO WHERE a kid should be playing...)

I dunno about that. I think the embarrassment of a police cruiser pulling into their driveway and a cop talking to them about the incident might be enough.

Still won't get him a fine or anything like that.

Depends on the cop who takes the complaint. I have a few friends that are cops in Brampton and Metro and they just don't have the time to do that...

I'd like to know when school buses started stopping at individual kids houses. That is absolutely ridiculous and I can completely understand the frustration when a bus stops 3-4 times on ONE goddamn street??
Are kids that lazy these days that they can't walk 5-10 mins to a bus stop??

And you need to stop confronting people. You've called the police, you've voiced your frustrations I think that's good enough.
One of these days your confrontations might not end so nicely.

Yup - As it is you can see that these people are reckless in their driving - what's to say that you don't end up meeting someone who really doesn't care about your well being? or doesn't find out where you live and make your life a living hell?

Just to be clear, are you complaining about the area between LSL and Brittania that has empty fields on both sides?

I think the big problem with 4th line is that it is a fairly major road, but the people who live on that street are trying to ignore that fact.

No, fourth line is not "supposed" to be a major road!

Good on csmann3 for doing more than simply complaining about this situation on a web forum. Taking down the plate and reporting it to the authorities is a good move. People can debate the in-person follow-up separately. I'm glad to see someone taking some proactive steps, rather than expecting government to have ESP and solve the solution.

I know the exact area csmann3 is talking about (and know csmann3 myself), and couldn't agree more. Fourth line is not built to be a major north/south thoroughfare similar to James Snow Parkway, Trudeau, Ferguson and Thompson. For that reason, and the development going on in the surrounding area, I've been asking all Ward 6 local and regional councillor candidates for their views and willingness to support making Fourth Line a "T" intersection at Louis St. Laurent, similar to how Fourth intersects at Derry. I would anticipate that would a) reduce Fourth line traffic speeds, and b) reduce Fourth Line traffic in general, encouraging greater use of those other wider road options.

MJD03- There is only one stop on 4th Line and the bus loads about 30 kids so it does take a bit of time to load all the kids, but that does not give some idiot the excuse to pass the bus and risk the lives of those children.

Okay fair enough, however I do see buses (my experiences are on Trudeau, North of Derry) where the bus has stopped like 4 times at 4 different houses for 1-2 children per household!! Completely frustrates the hell out of me, and I find myself trying to swing down side streets to avoid being stuck behind it.

MJD03- I'm not worried about the confrontation. That seems to be the only way to gain the attention of the reckless person behind the wheel. It has to be brought to their attention right then and there otherwise they will continue their reckless actions.

Well that's you're own call.
Personally I think it's dumb, you've gone to the people who can actually do something about it. You're not doing anything except making the person angry with you, and it probably won't make them stop the way they're driving anyways.

Although JSP wasn't opened on time (Sept 1st ;) ), I'm glad the 4th line closure was also delayed. I wish this would all be done already, to get the through traffic off of our precious 4th line! (in theory)
