Can someone please give me an opinion as to the following things:
1.
I went into my house last weekend and now that it is painted (PDI June 6th) and the baseboards are on i noticed that two walls are warped.....it is the wall not the tile on the floor. It bows out at the bottom of the wall and now that they have put the baseboards on you ca see where the baseboard comes out then back in. I was wondering if this is worth putting on the PDI.....also, how would Mattamy go about fixing the wall or would they not bother?

2.
Also has anyone put the actual paint job on thier PDI....I have also found places where they did not sand the plaster and painted on top....or places where you can see they have sanded and it left little holes in the plaster so the painted wall does not look smooth.....

3. Painted Trim and Varnished Stair Railings: In your homes when the trim was painted with oil paint can you see brush strokes? I can....is this normal or PDI worthy? Also are your staircase railings smooth....we have some sections that are and others the are rough to the touch.....My husband who used to be in cabinetry says it should all be smooth and we should put this on our PDI also....any opinions.....on any of the above 3 would be great.

Thanks a Bunch (in advance for reading my loooong post)

Hi Adrienne,

1. If you are not happy with the way it looks you must let them know. I would even think about contacting them now instead of at the PDI because if they are willing to fix it, this will give them more time to do so.

2. Yes, we did have this. I didn't have it on my PDI though, because i didn't really notice it until we had moved in. We had a lot of places where the plaster was very rough, like an actual bump sticking out of the wall. When the warranty people came in they admitted it was a sloppy job and sanded, replastered and painted. Put it on the PDI for sure.

3. We didn't experience this, although we did have some knicks in the wood that the warranty guys filled with some type of wax that you couldn't even see after.

Regarding PDI, 10 day, 30 day, all of them. Put everything that you think is a problem or not done to your liking on those things. Don't let anyone try to deter you from doing this. As long as you are nice about it, they will be nice about it as well. The warranty guy even told me that i had the longest list he had ever seen (which i doubt was true) but he also said it makes a huge diffence when the homeowners are nice to them.

Im glad that you mentioned that wax stuff....on our banister knob on the first big banister going up the stairs....the top of that knob had a knot from the wood in it and they filled it with a very light yellow filler and now that it has been varnished you can really really tell that it is there. My husband thinks that they could have sanded this down to eliminate the knot in the wood or done a proper job matching the filler.... this will also go on the PDI

Put ANYTHING on the PDI that you are not satisfied with..
All of the 3 things you listed so far I'd put on the PDI
