We need more churches and place of worship.

For whom? Existing ones already empty.

Holy Rosary is on Martin Street just north of Main.

........for that same community.....does this mean others would not be welcome in this community?....that cant be right........If it is im sure that someone will fight them on this issue.

Let's not forget that greater Toronto is arguably the most multicultural city in the world and we should be proud of who we live with in our communities.

i agree! isn't the welcoming & friendly nature of hawthorne village one of the things we all love about it? please don't make anyone that reads this forum think they are not welcome in milton because of there religous beleifs or ethninticity..

i grew up in rural south western ontario where there is very little multiculuralism, and i am glad that my kids will grow up more exposed to different cultures. i think it will help encourage tolerance and respect in them.

sorry for preaching..

So why should we who are happy to have multiculturalism in our town have to live with intolerant poeple like those who are oppposed to diversity. Perhaps you guys should be the ones moving again and starting your own community somewhere far away from here!!! Those with rude racist comments are the ones who are not wanted in our nice communities.

I don't necessarily think it's about discrimination. While I hope people will treat their neighbours with respect and love regardless of their culture. I can understand why people don't want to see Milton become the next Brampton which has become a total craphole dump.

I heard that a group has purchased 800 acres of land in Milton - 100 of which will be for a temple and 700 for homes. Has anyone else heard of this and where will it be going? :?: :!:

Ignoring all of the in between conversation, to the best of my knowledge there has not been an 800 acre land sale in Milton. The roman catholic church bought some land at Brittania and HWY 25 about 2 years ago, but otherwise all of the residential land of any significant size is owned by developers.

I would like to begin by saying that I enjoy having a mix of people around. Next i wanted to say that sometimes people begin seeing things the way that they do because they have been conditioned to see things that way. When something is constantly being pointed out over and over you begin to see it too. Maybe you would not have seen these things otherwise. people become prone to seeing sterotypical behaviour.

Thirdly.....Where i have an issue is not ethnicity or culture that stuff is great...My backgound is Italian and when my family came here it was a disgrace to have an "Italian" move in next to you....my mother keeps telling me that she would not even eat her lunch at school becuase it was not made on "english" bread and having a sandwich on a "pannino" was embarassing. she went home and begged her mother (my grandmather) to buy sliced bread for her lunch....so although being Italian is acceptable now it was not then..........now back to my point....What is disappointing is when you have people of a certain culture (and this happens in many different cultures)who congregate in a place and create thier own little world, they do not veer from this place, they dont learn the language etc. what i mean is i dont care where your ethnicity lies but if you come to Canada in search of a better life then i think that it is important to learn to speak the language and do whatever else needed to to embrace Canadian culture and try your best to be productive in society(although hard sometimes). IM NOT SAYING FORGET ABOUT YOUR OWN CULTURE......but embrace both.....I personally dont like hearing people complain about Canada and how bad it is....and if it is so bad then maybe comming was not such a good idea.....and again...this goes for all cultures and ethnicities....
On the flip side....I like seeing different ways of doing things and speaking to people who come from different places it makes life interesting.

Cant we all be prous of our homes and cultures and get along.........not everyone in any group is bad....and all groups have bad people in them....generalizations are not the answer......
