Hoping that someone can help.

So I go in the garage today and press the "unlock" button on my key fob. The car doesn't open. I tried it a few more time, didn't open, tried the "lock" and nothing happened. Ah well, put the key in the car door and started the car. When I pressed the garage door remote on my visor, the garage door didn't open. I had to get out and manually press the switch on my wall that was wired to the GDO.

I got on the driveway and pressed the GDO remote on the visor to close the garage door, nothing happened. I walked up to the keypad mounted outside the garage door, pressed the button, the keypad lit up, but the garage door didn't go down. Again, I had to press the button that was on the console mounted on the wall, hardwired to the GDO.

When I got out of our neighbourhood I tried the key fob and it worked.

Something is blocking the signal for my car and for the GDO. I have no idea what it is. Anyone have ideas?

I am not an expert here, but how many wireless devices do you have within your house? If there are numerous devices, the signals can get mixed up. You'll have to make sure the devices are set to different frequencies. Otherwise they will interfere with one another... and cause them not to work as designed.

Don't have that many wireless devices, just the regular media stuff, but we haven't added anything recently. Weird that it's just happening now.

We've had both things happen to us on occasion too.

With the garage door and the wireless remotes we found that one of us had accidentally pressed "lock" on the main one in the garage. It just had to be reset.

I don't know about the key fob, we're still perplexed as to why it's happening to us too. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

I am affraid that if I try it, someone will jump out from behind the snow bank and take a pic of me....then post the pic here under the "Strangest thing your neighbour ever did..." post....lol.

In all seriousnees, curiosity got the best of me late last night. When the world was asleep, I opened the garage and headed to the drive way....glanced over my shoulder to make sure no one was looking. Tried the remote numerous times until I found a spot that it didn't work. I hesitantly opened my mouth....pointed the remote at my teeth....and viola....the door opened. Now I don't know what to think of what just happened....but all I can say is that Bob M.... I am a believer.
