Just wondering how dead Milton's night life really is. From what I experienced on Saturday I'd say it barely has a pulse.

We went to Ned's on Saturday night for a birthday party and they had last call at 1am, so abruptly too. With place packed all the sudden the bell rang and it was last call. And yes this was prior to the time rolling back.

I've been to Ned's a hand full of times and I've always had a good time. I also seem to remember being there until 2am in the past. My friends and I are in their 30s to 40s and aren't lookin' for a rave to drop some e at or anything but c'mon, 1am on a Saturday? Is this whats been going on there lately?

What are some other suggestions for a night on the town and a bit of a party atmosphere?

The night life in Milton is pretty much no existent for people in their 30's and 40's. My wife and I usually end up going downtown with friends and staying over if we want to have some fun and not worrying about driving. It would be much easier to stay in Milton but there really isn't anything to do after 10 pm. The nicer restaurants like South 202 and La Toscana are dead by 9 pm. The Pubs can get busy but not as fun for our crowd. BP and Shoeless are okay to watch sports from but not fun for the girls. It would be nice to have something else but my guess is it will be a while.

Even the Earl's in Burlington and Moxies in Mississauga have more night life so maybe that would be a step up.

Thats just it though. I don't want to go through the effort of getting all gussied up and go downtown. Been there, done that. We have a birthday party downtown in a few weeks that I've been dreading.

I just want some where with a decent atmosphere that is stumbling distance / a short cab ride back home for the rare nights my friends and I cut loose and go out. Like I said Ned's is a fine place to spend a night out I was just wondering why they closed at 1am, with a packed house. Weird.

It's not Milton, but you can check out Dirty Martini's in Oakville.. or Ten in Port Credit.. not as far as Toronto, but can be a fun time :)

Also Stiletto in Oakville (formerly Berlin) or Zubar in Burlington. Also Blue Suede Sues in Mississauga is 20km away...

Hey Everyone

Thanks for all the great suggestions. Being from Mississauga and living close to the Oakville boarder I have been to most if not all the suggested venues. Agreed most of them are great.

Here lies the main problem.
You want something in town for maybe those 3/4 nights a year you want to go out? How do you expect a place to survive and stay in business let alone make a reasonable profit??

if you are looking for good night life you dont move to super suburb designed basically for families with small children.

milton has no night life, thats ok though.

Hmm funny, but Mississauga, Oakville, Burlington, etc all have their own night life. What does the urban planning of a town have to do with anything? Just because someone chooses to live in Milton does that mean they choose to be a shut in?

Sorry but I should have clarified, I go out more than quarterly. I'm just not a "club kid" who goes out every Friday and Saturday night.

Furthermore before you throw your two cents in you may want to read my entire post. The place was packed so I don't think it'll have any problem stay in business. That was part of what I was originally posting, if a place is packed why would they abruptly roll out last call and close at 1am, thus losing profits (that you are clearly so worried about) and in turn put and end to a good evening.

The alcohol and gaming commission dictates when they have to close. They could lose their liquor license if they defy it

Go to Neds fairly often and have never seen them close at 1. You sure it wasnt some stupid Ont liqour law somehow relating to the time change that night ??

See, now this is what I am talking about. Thank you! My original post just stated that Ned's closed at 1am and I found it weird. Then I just asked if there were any other hot spots in town, which I got some great responses to.

I don't know if closing at 1am was due to some kooky AGCO rule about serving around the time change although I personally doubt it. I work at arms length to the AGCO and haven't seen or heard of anything like it. But you've at least provided a plausable explaination. Perhaps AGCO may have been involved somehow, perhaps there was an impromptu liqour inspection, may be a family emergency. Who knows, but thats all I was asking in the first place. Why did it close at 1am? Thats it! I didn't say it was the worst place on earth, didn't say I had a horrible time, just that I found it weird that it closed at 1.

Earlier I even said that I too have been at Ned's past 1am. Anyway this whole thing has blown way out of proportion. At this point I'm sorry I asked.

In closing I'd just like to say that I have read over my original post and with my opening I now see how this may have cause some negative reaction. I apologize. My only intent was to find out why Ned's closed at 1am.

Ok so heres how it works.

When the clock rolls back at 2am. It becomes 1am. But that doesnt mean you can serve till the old 3am now. You do not get an extra hour to sell booze. If the clocks didnt move back last call would have been 2am. Your watch would have said 2am, which is last call.

That being said, some clubs I was at that night served till 3am, but they risked getting slapped a fine by the commission.
