I’ve heard you should freeze it.

Mostly diapers. I have a home daycare

I think I've seen people post that you can get a special pickup for this, but maybe not as seen in the link below. Maybe if you claim that you are a home business Halton Region will take pity on you and make a special run?

I know that tying that stuff up in the diaper genie bag and storing it in a sealed garbage bins still takes its toll on the air as the 2 weeks near their end. I can't imagine how many diapers you are talking about here. P-U.

The dump is 20 minutes away, make a run out there as needed.
Get yourself multiple green bins.
Use cloth diapers. Send the diapers home with the delinquents who created the shitstorm.
Do you have an unused cold cellar?

When the babies move on to solid food, doesn't everyone just flush the crap down the toilet, instead of bundling it up in the diaper and tossing it out?

I pick up after my dogs each and every time they take a sh*t with those dog poop bags. And lemme tell you, they release dinosaur-sized crap. I then toss them into a big black industrial duty garbage bag that is in a trash bin. I keep that bin on the side of the house (which is actually the back of my house cause I'm a corner lot). Luckily, no smells have managed to escape because my neighbours next door haven't said a peep and are still quite friendly.

All you can do is tie the bags tighter so the flies don't find 'em.

I have two kids under age of 3.This is what I do and there is no bug in my garage.

Yeah once I saw the kind of sh*t (no pun intended) that came out of my daughter when she started eating normal food, I would never in a million years try to wash and re-use a cloth diaper.

I gag as it is during some of the changes...I just want that thing in to the diaper genie asap (although that thing smells worse than the actual sh*t after a few days).

Maybe I'll start freezing the diapers! :D

You'd think so. Imagine they made diapers that you could just wash and reuse over and over again? They would make these special bags that you can store them in for a couple days and then do one big load in your laundry machine. Some people might think its gross, but if you're already wiping a child's ass for them, it really would be no big deal. Maybe in the future...

You doing cloth PJ?

Hellz yeah. I actually like 'em better. Felt guilty tossing a bag of "disposable" diapers every couple days. Once the little monster starts laying actual logs we'll be on easy street.

The "sanitize" setting on the washing machine is really all that's needed. We'll see what happens though once the poop gets nasty. Right now its like a little pool of brown sunshine.

Right on, at least you walk the walk. Today I turned up/down the AC (warmer setting) but I give you points for doing that sh*t, pun intended.

Just wait for the teething 'rheas. OMFG it's toxic. Though not all kids get them apparently, but my daughter sure did.

CJ, why don't you make a DIY diaper genie freezer contraption? Similar to your kegerator, but it has a diaper genie in it and it keeps it frozen so it never smells. When the baby grows up you can re-use it to freeze your leftovers like NIT.

We have a bin that takes regular plastic kitchen bags, and has a charcoal filter or something in it. Just toss the reusables in there, never smell 'em, then grab the bag when its full and **HOLD BREATH** dump it in to the washing machine. Plastic bag goes to the recycling (whoops - garbage in Halton, another Milton bonus). Diaper genies are a rip-off.

BUT are you using your wshing machine more than usual?

I don’t think I have the patience for cloth diapers. All the scooping sh*t out, flushing it down the toilet, rinsing the liners then washing them...

And I know the spouse will not be on board for that...

I still don't know how that stuff doesn't run through these cloths.

I wanted to do cloth diapers, but my wife vetoed me. Seeing as she changes upwards of 80% of the diapers, I guess that's fair.

The outer layer is fine-mesh nylon I think with a rubbery inner coating. Inside that is a towel-like absorbent pad. And touching the skin is some kind of weird contact-activated cotton-ish cloth - super soft. I did get pissed on once, but I think it was more due to the kid's c*** being pointed up and squished in the baby bjorn than anything else.

Again - feel free to come over for a live demonstration!

Interesting. I feel like a douche because I literally thought it was a cloth, like any old cloth just designed for these little shitters.
