I'm satisfied with their service even though it's not perfect. I can't blame them with the downtime due to the lightning strike in their Lauzon tower. Same lightning strike also toasted 5 electronic equipments (home theatre receiver, apple tv2, VOIP modem, router and internet modem) in my house.

We have Rural Standard Broadband and its fantastic. Sometimes I have to reconnect after my computer has been in sleep mode all night but compared to the Bell Turbo Hub, the monthly flat rate is amazing. We can also watch Netflix etc. without it buffering. So far, this is the best internet we've had.

They also have a promotion on - if I refer someone I get two months of free service...so if anyone is interested in getting SB, please PM me ;)

I've had SB for a couple of months now and couldn't be happier. 25mbps down no matter the time of day, no bandwidth caps/limits, all for $25/mth. I still wonder why people are with Cogeco/Bell.

Come again? 25mbps? they don't sell that level of service... 5 mbps is $25 a month... not 25...

@ Deep

They have a promo of $25 for their maximum speed (15 MBps) for 6 months for new subscribers. However, the speed could hit 25 Mbps. I have seen it as high as 28 Mbps when a PC is connected directly to the modem cable (no router).

@ jmajdsm

It could be an old document. I didn't sign any contract with them and I'm sure that the other guys didn't too. The first page of their website says - No Contract. Assuming that I will terminate my service with them, they can not force me to pay a termination fee because I didn't sign any document like that.

I will ask them to prove to me by showing any document that I have signed a contract or a recorded conversation that I have agreed on any contract to stay on their service for X number of months.

Check this page:

http://www.standardbroadbandhome.ca/services/internet/

Residential Internet access from Standard Broadband provides you with a fast and always reliable high speed Internet connection. All our packages provide you with 100% unlimited Internet access and we never make you sign a contract.

However, for business internets:

http://www.standardbroadbandbusiness.ca ... /pro10.php

Business clients today require a reliable Internet connection; with Standard Broadband you get just that. All our services provide guaranteed speeds unlike our competitors who offer "burstable" or "up to" speed promises. We know that you need consistent speeds and reliable services to conduct your daily business.

There's nothing mentioned that there's no contract. Maybe, the document you are pertaining to is for business clients?

I'm a residential subscriber so I would stand that I don't have a contract with them. Again, I didn't sign any document or was told on the phone that there's a contract for so and so, and never heard / agreed on any contract verbally recorded or not.

Their info on the website is current and accurate.. I do a lot of my IT work through Miltown Computer Services here in town and quite a few of our clients as well as our store currently use Standard Broadband. We have no direct affiliation nor do we get any "kickback" from them for referrals. My own experience with them has been primarily positive. While not perfect they are a great improvement, both in performance and support, over many of their competitors. The biggest difference between their home and business packages is the ability to have the same upload speed as download speed for business clients. You will see faster downloads than your cap at times but if you are getting significantly lower than your cap for any prolonged periods of time, I would call their tech support, At least it's in English without a heavy accent. :)

I've had mine since June 1, and so far nothing but positive things to say. I'm paying for the 15/1, their highest service and I'm consistently getting about 20/15. Ping is usually between 10-15.

Just got a notice that they're installing a 3rd tower in Milton (not sure where), so if you were having line of sight problems in the past, they may be resolved now with this new tower.

edit: just read that its on Hwy 25 south of Derry

That's a good location so they could give a better coverage on that area.

So are you guys still happy with the service? We've just cancelled Cogeco and I am torn between this and Start.... but I am starting to lean towards this at 34.99 and unlimited. But that set up fee sucks.
