We moved to Milton in 2005. We were looking at a house on Fourth Line (now Cedar Hedge), and our Toronto real estate agent had some concerns about the road. He researched it, and we realized what a mess that area was going to be for traffic. We bought a different house.

A good realtor no matter which area he is from will point you to research in developing areas. My agent was from Pickering and he told me to research regarding the developments and pointed me away from that area.

How do people buy homes and not look into the neighbourhood plans especially in an area where there still is development to come but spend hours on end researching about cars before they buy? You are paying 10x more for a home.

This thread needs a road built right thru it.

The single best thing they could do to 'calm' the traffic in that area is to substantially lengthen the light at waldie and jsp.

I swear I get a red light at waldie about half the time, and whenever I get the red it's tempting to cut right and head thru the subdivision rather than waiting. And in the morning rush who wants to wait patiently for a couple of light cycles to turn left onto jsp from derry when the cutting thru Trudeau to waldie gets the sure rewards?

If you lengthen the light at jsp to a few minutes, then you'd encourage the traffic out onto arterial roads.

Hi Momoftwo

I have spoken to building department staff and the Town has already issued a number of building permits to Tiffany Park Homes in the last few weeks (see my previous post). Their staff should be keeping you aware of this.

Local & regional councillor
Wards 2,3,4,5 North of Derry road.

Yesterday I called the TP office in Brampton. They said the permits are now available and construction will begin 'shortly'. I am hearing this for last 2-3 weeks but no signs of grounds breaking for construction yet :(

Thanks,
Tejash

Have they at least started construction on services? Sometimes the land isn't registered but the town or city will allow the developer to start putting in the services.

Yes. The crews have been working on the land for a while. They have dug up and paved Cedar Hedge 3 times now I believe.

Most of the lines for power and telecom are through the ground, just not wired to the poles yet. I know they did water (they shut of our water here). Don't know about gas.

Well that's a good sign at least.

No one's gonna be moving in to that hood for at least another 6 months...at least.

No no...the new hood next to my hood. I cannot see how these homes will be ready by Sept, Oct or Nov. Most of homes on Derry and Miller Way are still not completely ready and construction started there a few months ago.

Ladies and Gents,

we need to get this road opened, with about 150+ new houses opening on Cedar Hedge/4th Line, it doesn't seem to be out in left field to open it, no?

I for one have every intention to get to the 407, and would like to TOTALLY avoid taking the communities "side roads". It will mean a tremendous traffic increase in that area for those going East (I'm going out on a limb and saying that most of us will be travelling towards Toronto for our morning commutes).

It would be OK for me on my way out to go thru 4TH Line to Harwood to Trudeau, and flow on to Derry, but it would be a lot easier if I could avoid that on the way back.

I would be "All In" for a solution that involves right in / right out on 4th Line to avoid folks from coming through our community to hit the 401.

I wanted to resurface this to see what it would take.. Do we need to petition, get signatures?

What's the process? I'm sure folks would be against this, but it would be silly if you took that whole new sub-development and forced them through the small side streets to get to the 401, when you can extend 4th line back out to JSP and avoid all of the parks/playgrounds.

Whats the process?

Thanks,

Amin

^The Cedar Hedge Barricade Society (C.H.B.S.) is likely tracking down your IP right now in order to intercept any attempt to revisit the discussion on reopening that street. Rumours are that stevenr has assembled 32 suicide vests over the years as a last stand to any infidels that came even remotely close to getting that street opened.

One might remember the fearless and noble regional councillor Lambert, who's reputation was torn down so badly he was removed from office after an attempt to have that street reopened (maybe that was Cluett's Cronies, I get them mixed up all the time)...beware the C.H.B.S.

Amin, it's gonna be an even bigger bitch once the new Mattamy phase is done and everyone's moved in.

Holy Jihad Batman... :) That was classic Munchito.

Well, what is the oppositions stance on this? I understand there's a house or two on that corner, but now that JSP is the main artery to the 401, whats the harm in the right only?

I for one would rather boot down Derry, than Harwood, but I'm not even asking for that.

Just want the right in, so during prime "playground" hours, less traffic is flowing through the two parks.

Anybody else in the new developments that see issues with us cutting through the original sub-development?

Cedar Hedge to JSP can't happen, as the tracks are there...

And while I don't live in the area or have any strong opinion on whether Cedar Hedge is open to Derry, it's important to remind everyone that it was ALWAYS the plan to close Cedar Hedge at both ends. Yes, the petition by the residents may have got it done EARLIER than planned, but it was in the works long before those home were even built. Not saying that makes it right, but anyone who bought should have known this. And anyone who has bought in the last number of years could clearly see it wasn't open...

Also, there's an entrance from Derry just west of there (across from Sauve) that will be opened once that land is developed. That will take a lot of the traffic from west of Cedar Hedge...
