Location- Limehouse Memorial Hall/Limehouse Conservation Area
8:00 – 9:00 a.m. Meet and greet with coffee, tea, muffins and other goodies.

8:30 a.m. Hike The Bruce Trail from Pear Tree to Limehouse
This is a 10 kilometre carpool hike from Pear Tree Parking lot in Speyside to Limehouse Conservation Area (arriving in time for lunch). Hikers will meet at Limehouse Memorial Hall at 8:30 a:m. Carpool to Pear Tree parking lot, hike to Limehouse, then carpool back to Pear Tree after lunch.
Vlado Bosnar will lead this hike. Vlado is a popular hike leader for your Toronto Bruce Trail Club’s "Walking Wounded" hikes. Vlado is also the Land Stewardship Director for the Toronto club.

9:00 a.m. Trees, Spring Flowers
Toronto Bruce Trail Club's Trail Maintenance Coordinator Rose-Mary Mitter and noted hike leader Luis Costa will lead a walk sharing their knowledge of spring flowers and trees.

9:00 a.m. Lime Kiln- Credit Valley Conservation staff will lead interpretive walk focusing on the history of the conservation area and the early industrial development of Lime production.

9:00 a.m. Birding Hike with Ray Blower
Bring your binoculars. Bird migration through Southern Ontario is just beginning to peak in late April. This will be an introduction to birding but experienced birders are welcome. Having more practiced eyes and ears along will help enhance the outing for all. This outing will be led by Ray Blower a member of Halton North Peel Naturalist Club. Ray is also a long time Land Steward for the Toronto Bruce Trail Club.

11:00 a.m. Milton Quarry Tour Registration required for this event as bus seating is limited

Dufferin Aggregate staff will provide a bus tour of their very successful Habitat Rehabilitation project at the nearby Milton Quarry site. Regardless of your views of the aggregate industry, this is actually a very fascinating and worthwhile tour.

11:00 a.m. Topic: Frogs and Toads with Guest Presenter Don Scallen
Don's popular presentations are very interesting and entertaining. Don is a regular contributor to Caledon's "In The Hills Magazine" (Notes from the wild). He is a popular science teacher at Sir John A. Macdonald Middle School in Brampton and a member of Halton North Peel Naturalist Club.

1:00 p.m. Nature Reserve, Flora and Fauna Tour
A guided tour of one of BTC's nature reserves lead by BTC staff ecologists. The Toronto Bruce Trail Club manages ten Properties (Nature Reserves) along or near the Bruce Trail. Come out and meet Adam Brylowski (Land Stewardship Coordinator) and Brian Popelier (Conservation Stewardship Officer). Both Adam and Brian are experts in flora, fauna and many other areas of conservation. They are very approachable and only too happy to share their knowledge and answer your questions while guiding a tour through Speyside Woods, one of BTC's nature reserves (managed by Toronto Bruce Trail Club volunteers).

1:00 p.m. Geology Walk Learning about the Geology of the Niagara Escarpment is both fun and fascinating with BTC Executive Director Beth Gilhespy. Beth is a Geologist and well known for her extremely popular geology hikes. Even if you have very little knowledge of geology you will find this outing very enjoyable.

Participants are asked to please RSVP. Also please indicate all events you would like to attend. Obviously one cannot do every event. You can choose a 9:00, 11:00 and 1:30 event or any single event. All 9:00 events will end by 10:45. 11:00 events will end between 12:30 and 12:45. Afternoon events will end between 3:00 and 4:00.

Directions to Limehouse Conservation Area and Limehouse Memorial Hall at 5th Line and 22nd Side Road. Highway 401 to Trafalgar Road. North to Highway 7. Left on highway 7 to first left at 22nd Side Road, to Limehouse.
Limehouse Memorial Hall is just south of the single lane bridge.
Parking is limited at the hall but there is plenty of parking at Limehouse School on the north side of the bridge.

Are ATV or 4 wheelers permitted?

No, unfortunately no motorized vehicles are allowed on The Bruce Trail.

The Bruce Trail is a foot path that runs along the Niagara Escarpment between Niagara Falls and Tobermory Ontario. The Niagara Escarpment is part of the UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve. The Niagara Escarpment is home to many endangered and at risk species, both flora and fauna and is a wildlife corridor that must be preserved and protected. The only permitted use of the Bruce Trail is hiking, snow shoeing and cross country skiing.
We are extremely fortunate to have such a beautiful and unique environment and land formation virtually right in our back yard so “Embrace and Enjoy don’t Conquer and Destroy”.
