OEM tire size is 235/60/17
Can I run winter tires in size slightly narrower at 225/60/17?

Thanks

If you mean going down to P225 with the same existing wheels, yes you can.

Yes it will fit on the same rim, you may want to expand your search for 225/65/17 tires as well. Those will fit slightly better and reduce the amount of speedometer error.

No issues if using the same rims for sure... It might throw off your speedometer a little though. If not you need to make sure you use rims that are specific for your car... i.e. rim size, offset.. etc.

Here is a great link that I used all along when buying after market rims... hope it helps you and anyone else that has the same question.

If they're more/less narrow it won't make a difference to your speedometer/odometer, the issue is only if the tire is bigger or smaller. Tearing down rims over and over again will destroy your tires though and they won't last as many seasons... and depending on your car, may mess up your TPS which disables your car so it won't go over 80 until you have the dealer reset it lol

A TPS can disable a car? Never heard of that before, definitely not the behaviour on my car. That sucks!

I have never heard of that happening, Lovely. What make/model vehicle do you own, and did you actually experience it or were you told this by a service advisor?

I wonder if it's the fact that no one has heard of "limp mode" that so many people's transmissions mysteriously explode?? LOL....

I know what limp mode is, but for that to happen when the TPMS has issues surprises me, that's why I wonder what make/model you have so I can study.

It hasn't happened to me, my cars/trucks are babied and I have a limitless supply of rims, sensors and reset tools   but a friend with a tire shop had a few people come back to them complaining one year that their cars were busted and wouldn't leave second gear lol

Evidently it's pretty common and most people don't notice because no one pays attention to their fuel consumption and think the engine light is normal to be on all the time anyway...

Only some American brands have the "TPMS limp mode". German and Japanese cars generally have no connection between the tire sensor and the ECU.
