Have you already assembled them?

Having done this a few times, I'm always inclined to do them unassembled it lets you make sure every face and joint is well sealed with the stain.

As for stains, I've really enjoyed the Behr oil based products for both natural and tinted finishes.

Stain over Paint as well, weathers nicer.

We are short on storage, so have kept them out year round for a couple years, and they don't really need refinishing. But we also have good shade from the sun.

Also Sicins (sp) makes a good stain.

Basically any stain designed to stain a deck, will do nicely.
