I think the fact that they have carpeted floors in goodlife doesn't help with the smell. It always smells like ass in there.

Back on topic... I've never belonged to or worked out at a GL, but when I did shop around and got a quote, they were the most expensive in the $50+ a month range. Other people I know say the same thing. Maybe its different now, I dunno.

At the end of the day, I'm sure both clubs (GL and LA) will offer you a more than adequate place to workout, so it should come down to price. Go with who ever charges you less cause you won't notice a difference.

The only way I'd go for the more expensive place was if you wanted to step up your game and join CrossFit or something like that. A place that does something significantly different than just plotting machines down in a row for you to use incorrectly.

I'd hope the wife. I mean, he helps out around the house on her heavy days, right?

Hey ABS, if motivation is something you may be concerned about, Martin's suggestion may be worth looking into.

I've probably signed up to 3 or 4 gyms in my lifetime and was never able to sustain the motivation for more than about 8-9 months. For the last 2 years I've been doing a boot camp type of program that has kept my interest. For me it seems to be the group atmosphere that helps. Also the program keeps shaking things up so you're never bored doing the same thing over and over. As Martin said it's probably going to be more expensive, but for me the value has been worth it.

I'm not sure where you are located in milton but i would go with Fitness etc before GL. It's not as big as LA i believe but it has a great atmosphere. I have never done the rush hour time but i am sure its the same anywhere you go. I have tried GL and i would recommend Fitness Etc before GL.

Oh, the GL gym in town has a TRX rack. They used to lock up all the straps (but I knew how to pick the lock 1 minute), but now regular gym goers can use them. GL is also now open 24/7 so I've found value in those inclusions. They also have tanning facilities for those who fake n bake.

And yes, it's the same carpet since I joined there I'm 2007, lol. There are twinges of purple in the carpet fibres, haha.

I've been a member at Fitness Etc. for almost 2 years and I love it. I was at GL before and wasn't happy. The atmosphere at Fitness Etc. is great, it's always clean and I never have a problem with crowds or using the equiptment I need, even when it's busy. It's worth a try. I believe they give you a one week trial free.

Agreed - I've been a member for just under a year and love it, too!

Which fitness club in Milton has the best overall value

The one you actually use. Doesn't matter if you're paying only $30/month if you're not going. If you're paying $150 but going? That's the BEST value. End of story.

Was a big fan of Fitness Etc. as well. Unfortunately moved to the east end and go to LA now (just joined, value the convenience). So far I don't like it nearly as much and the pricing is about the same. I guess they have a pool, but I probably won't use that much. Hex plates for the free weights are super annoying.

fitness etc is def older and not as nice as the other two but I for one go to the gym to actually work out so none of this bothers me. It is much cheaper and far more convenient if you are in the west end of town. It is nowhere near as busy as GL and LA, and is always clean and organized. The staff usually walks around every hour or so and puts back all the weights where they should be. I have never seen that happen at GL or LA.

is the lighting any better at LA now? I tried a free trial a few years ago and found it pretty dark in there in the evenings. GL is always nice and bright inside, day or night.

Is LA dark inside? I've never noticed that.

If it is, it's a good thing overall as the dimmer lights create shadows on your body to make you look more ripped when you're mirin, brah.

Zyzz.

Nah way! Bright lights make the oil you slather yourself in shimmer for the gun show. If you use the mirrors right, gym bunnies will flock to you like moths to a light
