I noticed that on the large streets (Clark,Trudeau etc...) the portion of land in between the sidewalk and the road is varied in size... one side of the street has a wide boulevard while the other has a narrower one. The side with the wide boulevard also has enough space to park 2 cars (without blocking the sidewalk) Why is it this way...how can we determine which side will have the wide/narrower boulevard on Savoline?

Thanks in advance for any info!

The reason that some streets have the wider boulevard is because there was supposed to be a bike path installed there. Once Mattamy started to put it in, everyone on that side of the street(s) started complaining to the Town that they didn't want it and claimed that Mattamy never told them about it. We were one of the first to purchase and we knew about it, so I think that is a load of bull. Anyway, the Town had "public" meetings about it, but only invited the people that lived on those streets. The number of people that attended were mostly from the side of the street where the bike path was supposed to go, so the Town cancelled the bike paths.
Had the town done it fairly and included all residents in the affected neighbourhoods, I am sure our children would still have a safe place to ride their bikes.
We were also told after this process, that the town would be making it illegal to park on the boulevards. Once the staff put the motion forward, the councillors voted it down. Now we all have to suffer not being able to see oncoming traffic when exiting side roads onto streets such as Trudeau and Clarke.

Personally I just think it's silly if they were to make it illegal to park on your boulevard (especially if you have the room). Then all the cars will park on the road and make it even harder to see oncoming traffic. Also, I could care less if they have bike paths on the side of the road because after my friend was hit and killed by a car while she was riding on the road properly, myself and my daughter now and forever will be riding on sidewalks (and don't get me started on losers who block the sidewalks with their cars). :D

Just curious...what is your point? I've been parking on my boulevard for almost three years now....obviously it's not a law they enforce and I have a feeling that is for a reason (political suicide maybe).

I can maybe understand someone calling if someone parks 24/7 in front of your house, but on your own boulevard??? Please. Just my thought anyway.

FYI - boulevard parking

I was told by the town that there is a loophole in the town parking bylaw that makes the enforcement of the boulevard parking prohibition impossible.

They now know that changing the bylaw to close the loophole is an election suicide.

Bruno,

I have no idea what the loophole is. THat's what I was told by the town department responsible for parking enforcement when I went there to discuss a parking ticket. I am on a short boulevard side, where I can not park.

If you need more info, contact the town of Milton.
