those nasty customers that are impossible to please. Why are all the builders bad people - and all the home buyers are perfect. Funny how that happens isn't it ;-)

I hope you are not saying that all unsatisfied customers are bad.

If you spend $350,000 you expect the house to be without blemish and finished on time (it's been 4 month for us and still few items outstanding).

True, some people will never be satisfied, however, picture paying in full for a brand new $35,000 car and driving home with a missing hub cap and maybe non functioning A/C, and trim piece that doesn't match the paint, and missing radio, and..... well you get the point.
Then having to "beg" the dealer to make those issues right.

I bet no one would sign that deal.

I wish there was such a thing as a holdback, like in most industries.
A 10% holdback would get the issues resolved very quickly indeed.

My $0.02

Maybe she takes her time with 'those kind of' customers...I always get quick responses from her as well.

I always got quick responses too. That's why I was shocked. I had never imagined being one of "those kind of customers", but it was pretty sad. The follow up is pretty funny too...

So this week I wrote her a message saying that this was the third time I've written and could she please respond sooner rather than later, so that if there is a problem I can fix all of reprecussions before it's too late. (this was the issue about our address being 240 on our documents, but our future neighbours addresses would lead to us having 234, big pain in the butt because I'd have to change all my pre arranged deliveries). I didn't mention the issue in the third email, just asked her to please answer my concern from my first email.

So she calls me yesterday saying that she's confused because she never got my first two emails. So I explain the situation/concern, and she responds saying that she had looked into the issue for me, and had an answer for me right there! This was amazing. I was so impressed that I didn't know what to say. How on earth could she have looked into my concern without knowing what my concern was. She either is a mind reader, or she DID get my first two emails. I'll go with mind reader since I'm not one of "those kind of" people.

Ooops...I need to correct myself. I just found out from Mattamy that I did mention in my third email that the issue was regarding my address. My apologies go out to Kelly Spencer for the mistake.

how did they let you know? don't tell me they actually called/emailed you to tell you that you had infact mentioned it in your 3rd email...cuz if they did, that would make it really obvious that they have a person constantly monitoring this site.

If I had a business that might be discussed on a public forum, I would also take a peek once in a while.. :)

BTW if you are reading this, my pantry still has a big hole in it and my heating system needs to be rebalanced... and

   Funny you mentioned this...
I bought a 2006 Dodge Charger @ $43 330 with the rust proofing and undercoating etc.
the day of delivery the car had a deep paint scratch... I let it go since I wasn't too picky...
I drive away and the engine started rattling... At 9000 km the engine was changed... Not picky enough I let it go...
at 17000 km the engine is gone again... I go to the dealer ( Team-Mavis and 401) the general manager tells me to go f*** myself.... INTERESTING

now we are filing for arbitration...

We had the railing problem too. In our first house the porch was high enough that code required a railing but they were not going to put it in. I talked to the trades that were doing the railings and he walked over, measured and said he would do it. It's always good to be social with the trades.

how high does the porch have to be in order to require a railing?

So to those of you that air all of your dissatisfaction on this forum. With Mattamy lurking, I wonder if Mattamy gets the sense that they are damned if they try their best and damned if they don't, with some of their homeowners?

I would have to say this is the case no matter what builder it is.

I really feel for those with the serious issue with Mattamy and I'm positive they are working very hard to fix them as reputation is VERY important.

Now- I will say that I just moved into a Mattamy town and the builder and trades have gone above and beyond for me and I couldn't be happier.

Simple things like replacing dead sod for me ( with out asking) noticing little things that I missed like scratches in the cabinets, accommodating me, my scheduled and getting the extra little things done.

For example- my dishwasher ( purchased through mattamy and supplied by the brick) broke after just once use, they heard wind that it was still not fixed under warranty three weeks later, my builder was there with a brand new unit and stayed late on a friday installing it for the weekend.

I just want those that are waiting to close to know that I had a fabulous experience.
With the entire Mattamy team and other then a perfect house, it could have not gone smoother.
