Another thing with some of these banks is that they often take FOREVER to send instructions to your lawyer... so if you do plan to go with a "B" lender, make sure that you get everything sorted out as early as possible, so you don't have to panic. Moving is stressful enough without adding the extra stress of will my instructions/money show up in time.
md2ooo is right about the penalties that some banks hit you with, but you should look into that no matter who your bank is (Royal is usually pretty good at hitting you hard when you break your mortgage early)
Also... You really have to be careful and find out if you can break your mortgage early at all. There are many banks/trust companies (Home Trust, Resmor Trust, Maple Trust etc..) that do not let you break your mortgage (especially to re-finance with another bank) unless the term is over or if you are lucky, on pre-determined dates only (usually the anniversary date)
