Wyl, you read my mind. I know fast food isn't the healthiest, but if you want to make BIG money, open another fast food joint at this end of town like McD's/Tim Horton's/Gas station and you're set! On a side note, I find it hilarious that the new KFC advertises that they deliver....so I called them up but apparently this side of Milton is too far for them! Ha!

Chuck is right, find a void and try to fill it.

I used to be in business and one of them was importing and distributing golf products and the other was importing and distributing musical instruments and accessories. I started one of those businesses back before the internet was so widespread so I had to go to the Toronto Reference Library to find my contacts. If you're thinking of importing products from India, find an original product that isn't currently available in Canada and then bring in a few pieces for test marketing. If you can, try to secure the rights to Canada so your supplier doesn't eventually try to go around you after you've built up the product.

I was once approached years ago about importing tombstones into Canada from China. Could have been a great opportunity but if you're not really too interested in the product you're trying to push, you won't get anywhere, long term.

One advantage that new Canadians have is their connections and command of their mother tongue. So, if you're from India, use your knowledge of the people, country etc. to help you source out products.

If you're thinking of a restaurant or franchise, get ready to work a ton of hours with very little return in most cases - unless you can afford to fork out multiple hundreds of thousands to buy a Tim's or McD's. I know people who were managers of Pizza franchises and they made more than the owners. :o

Hope this helps,

Cliff

Thanks Guys. I like the idea from CliffB, I should find some original product from India and build the market for it. I cant really open franchises as it requires huge amount of investments.
