The supercouncil committee is a very good group and everyone has been working together in the best interest of all students in Milton regardless of where people live, what schools they attend or what programs they are enrolled in. Everyone has put aside their own personal agenda's and are focusing on the same goal.

i don't dispute that at all... but why wouldn't you want representation from the area in question? AND HV on the Escarpment for that matter.. seems like a no brainer to me.

i'm going to have a glass of wine now

I didn't say that I didn't. I just know from having dealt with the board for the last number of years, twice being in the situation of going to a new school that the board does not recognize the students in that community as a seperate community until the school is actually occupied.

My only concern is in not wanting to lose any momentum that we have by having new people brought in a year after the supercouncil started. Especially at such a crucial point. Decisions need to be made asap for September of '08 since staffing is set by March and the board will not make any changes afterward. That means waiting another year.

I would suggest waiting for the public meeting so that we do not prolong that any more and then everyone will have the opportunity to hear directly from the board.

Don't know why you think I need to "chill". I didn't post any type of freaking out message.

I asked Rick to start this thread for exactly the reason that you said. Parents can use it to keep up to date with what is going on. I will find out more info at the next supercouncil meeting, and let everyone know as soon as I can when the public meeting will follow.

I just received confirmation that the next supercouncil meeting will be on November 13th. These meetings are only for one parent rep from each school in Milton as well as administrators, trustee and Superintendant. Please make sure that your school is sending a parent rep. All schools should be represented. (Principals should be sharing this information with school council members).
The public meeting should be announced at the super council meeting if not before. I will post the information as soon as I have it.

The date for the public information meeting has been tentatively set for Tuesday December the 4th. I will confirm with time and location as soon as it is available.

Our Trustee, Donna Danielli gave a very thorough update on the Milton #4 situation and is working with the board's lawyers to draft a letter that will be placed in the local paper to communicate that information to everyone. I have asked her to also post it here.

Congrats to the Coates crossing community for getting representation at the supercouncil meetings. Now we just need someone from the escarpment area. Anyone interested??

Is anyboby like our local MPP lobbying the province for more money? I think that's an important thing to be doing instead of just blaming the home builders.....from my understanding a huge reason for the lack of schools is lack of funding from the province. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Good questions that should be asked and answered here so everyone is fully informed.....hey, worst case scenario, let's ask Mattamy for some more money......5 million or so for a school is chump change to them :D

The biggest concern for Milton right now is that the property for the fourth school is held up in an OMB dispute. If that were not the case, that school would have opened this past September. There are more schools planned for Milton, but the lots they are supposed to be constructed on are not ready yet.
Mattamy has been trying to help resolve the situation and is pressuring the other builder that is holding up the site to settle. Hopefully they do.

We currently have more than 900 students in portables in Milton. That number be significantly lower if we had that fourth school.

again - our bigger issue right now is not $$, it's getting the OMB dispute settled so that we can build the fourth school. The board has committed the funds for the school, we just need a lot to built it on.

I would be surprised if the board actually has the money in hand. They have made the commitment to build the schools, but typically have to go into debt then get rebated by the Ministry after the school is occupied.
