BREAKING NEWS!!! :D

I just stopped in at the Mattamy sales office and was told that there will probably be a new release in VISTA this Saturday (no guarantees though of course). They are closed on Friday so no preview but I'll be there Saturday morning to check the lots out and see if there is any price increase. From what I can see there are probably about 20 or so lots remaining in 1A

Hi Buttafly 77,

I haven't been to the sales office in awhile or checked in with them - thanks for the update!

Steph,
I can guarantee that they will be releasing more this weekend. It states in the flyer I recieved in my email that it is only 36' lots and larger. Im sure they will be releasing more 34' lots, but not as of right now.

Happy shopping everyone!!! :)

Hi Lesley, how bizarre is it that I am SO excited about this release and we've already purchased? I plan on being there at 11 am (or a bit earlier) to check it all out. I'm also trying to convince my sister and brother in law to move out this way too. :D

Aww. That would be really great if they did, for you. My cousin and cousin in law are looking to buy there as well. They are trying to sell their own house before they make a move though (cant blame them). They've got an adorable little girl, shes 3. Seems like she would love the neighborhood herself with all the little ones moving in.

My boyfriends friend actually bought almost right across the street from us. Lot 112, Millbrook B. He closes in November 2009 (I believe). We're looking forward to having someone we know, to start off with, in the area. Sense of homeliness. LOL!

Oh good another Millbrook owner - I was starting to think I was the only one!

BREAKING VISTA NEWS!!! :D

We have street names now and boy are they ever different! lol

Street G= Nunn Crescent
Street F= Gooch Crescent
Street I and Street M= Jelinik Terrace
Street J = Inman heights
Street K= Leitch Landing
Street N= Wettlaufer Terrace

So what does everyone think? I'm guessing they are last names of people...if anyone finds out the meaning of them please post them here. I'm curious!

I did some research and it appears that Ed Gooch was a longtime resident of Milton and I think he may have worked with P L Robertson- the inventor of the Robertson Screw who lived here in Milton.

Otto Jelinek was a businessman who was into politics. He was elected in Halton in the late 70's and and the 80's and finally in Oakville-Milton in 1988.

I have no idea if the people above are who the streets are named after but it's all I could find at the moment. :)

So people who live on Leitch Landing...him....Would they be Letchs? ;-)

letch (lch)
n.
1. A strong, especially sexual desire or craving.

Or is Leitch and Letch prounced the same way? that's very important to know :P

I think Gooch & Nunn also sound cool.

 VERY funny Rick. I have no idea how Leitch Landing is actually pronounced but I have been calling it Lee-tch in my mind.

Gooch reminds me of alcohol for some reason. Maybe it's the hootch? Not sure.

Of all the names i'm most partial to Nunn Crescent which luckily enough is our street name. :D

Hi Kanda08,

I'm hoping that they will have the cabinet supplier information in the next month or so. As soon as I hear something I will definitely let everyone know.

Regarding the appliances, I know that when we bought our current semi through Mattamy 5 years they were offering 3 white appliances (VERY basic) or you could get $1500 in upgrades at the design centre- we took the credit. I think that these days Mattamy is only offering appliances with towns and semis but I could totally be wrong so someone correct me if they know different.

We started looking at appliances about 8 months before closing our current home and we found that not only did prices change but the models did as well and we had to make some changes. I think you may be able to get the newer models if you wait until next year to order-- I think you close in September correct? Either way the choice is yours but I wouldn't be surprised to see the no pst again within the next year or so. :D

Good to hear that things are moving along! I'm a bit jealous of some the new names - "Savoline Boulevard" is definitely more of a mouthful than "Nunn Crescent".

Does anyone have updates on the Design Centre? We were so excited after buying that we went there the next day, but as everyone else found, it was interesting but of limited use since they didn't know who the cabinet supplier for Vista was going to be.

Also, was wondering what everyone is doing about appliances. I imagine that if Mattamy does sell them (and I have no idea about that - please educate me if you know!), they would be pretty over-priced. We're starting to look now because there is no PST on Energy Star until July 20th.

I have about a million more questions, but since I have over a year, I will post them a couple at a time. :D

Hey. When we purchased, we asked our sales rep, Nick, about appliances and his sarcastic response was -- "We sell houses, not fridges." As far as I know, Mattamy only supplies appliances for town homes as those that buy are regularly first time home buyers who dont have the funds available to purchase appliances. I understand that you are looking at appliances now, but Id suggest waiting and finding deals on the 2009 models. You may not be paying PST RIGHT NOW, but I can almost guarantee you will get just as good of a savings on new models next year, if you go to the right place.

Stephanie,
You have the right idea. Mattamy only supplies appliances for non-detached homes, according to our sales rep, Nick. I agree something will come up with the pst again on energy star. If not that, there will be discounts available that will save you the cost of pst, or more!
