i've been in Milton for almost 3 years and there is not really much when it comes to malls and shopping. I usually alternate between Superstore and Walmart for groceries. I have an awesome auto mechanic in town (True Tech). The rest of it is usually in Oakville or Mississauga in terms of clothing etc.

I usually shop at A&P and Food Basic for food. We just check the flyer every week and shop where ever the deal is!!

As for clothes... I go to the USA. When i was in Florida this summer... i went to my first outlet centre.... i could not believe the deals!!!!

Shirts for $7 there and the same shirt here in Milton $35...
A fall jacket, $20 at the Gap there, and $80 dollars in Mississauga...
There is no competition.

I just can't bring myself to buying clothes here when i know they are up to 90% cheaper south of the boarder! it's sad :(

The only thing we buy in Milton on a regular basis are groceries... at the Super Store. The odd quick buy is done at Walmart.

If we are on a mission for something or are looking to kill an afternoon shopping for stuff we don't need  , we go to Mississauga... Square One, Erin Mills Town Center, Sherway Gardens and some times Yorkdale.

Even with all the growth in Milton, there still isn't much good shopping (at least in our opinion).

As for the mall; Esley optical (only High end optical place in town... and they are really good people!) and Sport Check are the only two stores worth mentioning... and the odd trip to Zellers.

Is true tech still there? I've never used him, but was thinking about it, but it looked like the sign was gone (from where I THOUGHT it was  )

Can't resist replying to this one! For all my major appliance, TV, lawn and garden (includes, lawnmowers, patio furniture, snow blowers), air and water treatment (softeners, filters, humidifiers, dehumidifiers, air conditioners) floor care (canister, upright and central vacs and yes Dyson) and exercise equipment I shop at the local Sears Dealer Store right here in Milton. For food I usually go to Superstore, occasionally the Metro (was A&P), less often La Rose or Raba. Most clothes are from Marks Work Warehouse. I also shop at Walmart, Staples, Canadian Tire, Zellers, Source by Circuit City, Home Hardware, Rona, Home Depot (others I've probably forgotten) all located right here in Milton. I like to keep my business local, it's good for the community and I save on gas by not driving further than needed to get what I need!

Wal-Mart- For Food. We did a shopping basket check at 5 places and Wl-Mart is about 30 to 50% cheaper.

Bill Mathers on Main St. for mens clothes.

Local Auto Repairs. Milton Import on Main and RR tracks. or KB on Main
owned by Kevin Blacklock.
Stay away from Brians Auto to avoid being hosed.
CTC is also a parts revenue generator.

LaRose Bakery is good. A bit pricey but good fresh food.

Drycleaning- Carriage Square.

Dr. Ted Kariolidis- Excellent dentist.
Ivy Arms- Best pub/restaurant.

Higher class restaurants try-Pasqualino, Brunello, South 203 or La Toscana next to the MV Office. Thai on Main St.

There are lots of local businesses that give good service.

Economical Heat on Commercial St for Furnace etc.

Aegis Security for Alarms etc.

My family loves the Food Port for deli, meat and veggies. I am surprised that no one else has mentioned it. For staple grocery items we go to Food Basics. For clothes mostly stores in Oakville (where I work).

I second Foodport, IMO best quality meat and produce and SERVICE in town.
Personally can't stand Superstore or Metro, although I will check them out for specials especially Metro which offers a lot of BOGO free on meats.
Also been fairly impressed with the Walmart grocery section but won't go there specifically for groceries.

As for shopping, honestly I find I can get most of what I need in town, there are more stores opening all the time although they aren't all in a mall so it means a lot of driving around.

I second or third (lost count) True Tech Auto Repair!

Wal-Mart for everything but meat. I figure I’m saving around $700-1000 a year on groceries at Wal-Mart. It made me sick the first time I saw the price differences vs regular grocery stores. I’ll generally go to Metro for meat, even though it’s not the best.

I’d prefer to go to the supercenter for meat and fruits, but I refuse to shop anywhere where they don’t give you plastic bags.

I shop at a lot of stores in Milton. There are great ones up by Wal Mart - staples, la senza girl, bonnie togs, marks work warehouse, canadian tire, reitmans, payless, eb games and circuit city.
Over by the theatre and home depot we just found 2001 audio visual and a whole bunch of new stores I haven't tried yet.
I do go to Mississauga for a lot of the kids clothes - Mavis and Brittania is full of discount stores.
I also go to Winston Churchill to Maple Lodge Farms for chicken. Can't beat their prices very often.

Practically all my electronics I buy online at www.ncix.com or www.canadacomputers.com (they have a store in Mississauga too - Mavis and Eglington).

You should try www.pccanada.com as well. They are in Etobicoke. I find their prices better then NCIX (generally), and the service is stellar. I’ve purchased all my PC’s through them for over 10 years.

We do all of our grocery shopping at the Superstore, but will sometimes venture to Food Port or Food Basics. We always go to La Rose for our fresh bread/rolls/ and buns.

We also frequent Canadian Tire. I have found that we can do a lot of our shopping locally, without having to venture outside of Milton, which is nice. We do tend to go to the larger malls, if we are looking to spend an afternoon or doing some serious shopping. 8) Other than that, we are also local shoppers.

We also visit the Farmer's Market religiously every weekend. Can't wait for that time of year to come around again!
