So I did go into the sales centre on Saturday and the place was hopping! It seemed busy to me but when I asked one of the ladies working the front how things were going she said it wasn't busy and she was surprised that Mattamy would open a new release on a holiday weekend so who knows. Lots of lookers at the map and all the sales agents were with customers signing paperwork on their new homes.

There was no price increase at all that I can see. At least for the 43's and 50's there wasn't. The lots that were released were pretty nice. The highest premium lot was going for $65K and that lot ensured that you had no back neighbours at all and you backed partially onto the school property and partially onto the SWM pond. And most of the new release seemed to be on Wettlaufer Terrace, Jelinik Terrace and Inman heights area.

That's my update! :D

Yeah I know...I was a little surprised myself Lesley. I'm guessing whenever they release phase 1B there will be an increase.

Good to hear that things are moving along! I'm a bit jealous of some the new names - "Savoline Boulevard" is definitely more of a mouthful than "Nunn Crescent".

Does anyone have updates on the Design Centre? We were so excited after buying that we went there the next day, but as everyone else found, it was interesting but of limited use since they didn't know who the cabinet supplier for Vista was going to be.

Also, was wondering what everyone is doing about appliances. I imagine that if Mattamy does sell them (and I have no idea about that - please educate me if you know!), they would be pretty over-priced. We're starting to look now because there is no PST on Energy Star until July 20th.

I have about a million more questions, but since I have over a year, I will post them a couple at a time. :D

Perhaps we can organize a group buy for appliances and air conditioning?

A friend of my moms does air conditioning and is offering me $2500 for top of the line stuff. I can talk to him and find out if he can do this for those that are interested. Perhaps he might even go lower if I give him more business. Let me know how many may be interested and I will give him a shout.

I touched base with Colin Best regarding the street names and here is some information that he provided me with. Thanks so much Colin!

I checked around it appears that Nunn Cr. is named after A. Nunn a veteran of the First World War who served overseas from 1915 on. I have no further information which is from the book" Milton Remembers World War 1: by Jim Dills and John Challinor which you can find at local book stores and Harris Stationary downtown.

Most new streets are named after veterans, local families and local, provincial and federal politicians and governor generals.

The Milton Public Library on Pearl street just west of Ontario and Zellers has a local history section where you can research for further information and the Waldie Blacksmith museum on James St. just off Main by the St. Pauls church is open on Saturdays during the market for other local information.

Hope this helps.

Colin Best

Hi SDF

It takes a number of months to grade the site, install the water, waste water, storm sewers, gas and other utility lines as well as the roadway before the house construction begins.

Check out the east side of Laurier Ave. east of Thompson road those streets were built almost a year ago and the houses are just starting construction with the first homes closing this August.

The Heathwood homes site starting scrapping the property in the spring of 2006 and the first 9 families just moved in the last two weeks.

Check milton.ca for the sherwood survey map and status update of the other developments in the area.

I'm not familiar with those streets. Is there a map online?

Are one of those the street that runs behind the school and over to the SWM? Where are the others?

Hi SDF, there is currently not an updated map of the Vista subdivision but I posted on page 5 the letter street name along with the new name so you can see where these streets are located. :)

:D

My wife and I just signed the papers for our new Wood Lily Elevation C in Vista 1A, Lot 184 on Wettlaufer Terrace closing Feb 2010.

Just wanted to say hello to everyone and that this board has been an excellent resource while we were making our decision.

It is great to see such a close community coming together even before the houses have been built.

I cant wait to see some actual photos of other Wood Lily's!! They should be gorgeous. We cant wait!!!

Our family drove over to the site this morning and it was beautiful, we miust have spent at least a half hour there picking up some nice rocks (our toddler's latest obsession) and enjoying our surroundings. The trees were full of leaves and just gorgeous, the birds were chirping and there was a really nice breeze all that was missing was our house and a cool drink in hand :D It looks like they are going to be doing the underground work soon. There were stacks of blue and green pipes piled up for the water and sewage lines. Has anyone else been up to the site lately?

We went up about a weekend ago - there was a great blue heron in the pond and it looked lovely. Very peaceful. I only hope that the development won't scare away the natural wildlife.

We actually walked around the site looking for markers that indicate where our house will be built - but were unable to find our lot. I think that the lots are numbered differently on the site than they are on the Mattamy schedule B - I believe that the lot numbering system on the actual site corresponds to the City of Milton's plans.

I didn't notice the pile of pipes so that must be a new addition.

Also, I drove around the homes already built on Savoline boulevard south of Derry and Tramaine to search for a "Mill brook" - but to no avail. I did see several Balsam "B" models there.

If you have not been to that subdivision, I suggest maybe taking a look - it certainly gave me a better idea of what the exterior colours will actually look like on the house.

Thanks for the info SDF. I was thinking of calling the DC to find out when they wold have info on pricing and suppliers for Vista but I won't bother now. It's a little annoying that we won't be able to make any type of decision until right before our appointment. It was never like that in the past but they've obviously changed things. Oh well there's not a whole lot we can do about it but wait it out.

Hmmmm I've been to the site so many times and have yet to see the heron. It sounds beautiful so hopefully i'll see it on one of my next visits. :D
