Has anyone had a legal real estate lawyer do a review of the Mattamy Offer/Agreement of Purchase and Sale? Some Builders/Developers have standard offers and don't do any changes so it's sometimes useless to pay the extra $$ to have a lawyer review it. Anyone have their mattamy offer reviewed? Did your lawyer find anything? Did Mattamy accept any changes?? Email us as we'd like to know.

We've been hearing frequently from other buyers that the Mattamy Design center overcharges for Crown Moldings and Baseboard upgrade features (But I've also heard that the quality is good!). Another example being potlights cost between $230 to $250 a light (installed price). Is there anyone out there that has an old price list of last years Hawthorne Village feature/upgrades?? We've begged/pleaded for this information from Mattamy but they are pretty admant about not giving detailed pricing on upgrade/features at the design center until AFTER you've purchased. It sounds like it will be cheaper to get outside contractors to do crown molding, baseboard, trim, paint board etc. But we're not sure how much cheaper??? It seams convenient to have the builder do that for you instead of having to hunt around for a contractor and have another vendor to worry about. If anyone has feature/upgrade price lists from Mattamy on their home (please let us know which model) or experience in dealing with Mattamy on feature/upgrades please email us! we'd like to know your comments.

P.s. there is another weblog by the "TechnoMagician" (Tim Aiello) who has a great comment discussion thread talking about mattamy. The link is http://www.kosmo.com/blogs/TimsBlog/2002/10/21.html. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and select the "click to view or enter a comment" link.

There's an interesting article about Mattamy Homes in the Milton Canadian Champion newspaper. There's an online edition as well so you can read the article at http://www.haltonsearch.com/hr/mcc/story/1776969p-2090625c.html. To be fair though, Mattamy can't control land it doesn't own. I'd recommend people use the www.town.milton.on.ca website to do their own research on Milton and the land Mattamy is developing on, and the area around Hawthorne Village.

Still no word from Mattamy on when they will release new homes for sale in Hawthorne Village, Milton. It's interesting that they continue to advertise for this community in the "New Homes and Condos" GTA magazine Since December I've been seeing adverts. There is one in this months March 15-19th issue on page 179. As of today I'm hearing guesses of possibly middle of April, but to be honest every time I've called or visited the sales office they have suggested the new houses may be released "next month".

On the plus side the sales people have always been courteous, friendly and helpful with what information they have or are allowed to disclose.
